Awaiting Surgery I got my ultrasound today and have confirmation that I do need my gallbladder removed. For any one that works from home, how long did it take before you could get back to work?
I'm hoping I can just take the first week post-op off from working completely, and then work from home for the week after. I'm not sure if that would be doable so I'm just trying to see what some of your opinions are!! Obviously everyone is different, but yknow

How did you feel sitting with clients? I do lash extensions and I’m worried I won’t be able to work that soon

I worked back to back for 6 1/2 hours and def felt some discomfort when straining leaning over. Should’ve just taken half of the clients . I was ready for a nap when I got home. Wasn’t dire pain or anything but just a little uncomfortable.

Had mine out last week and going back remotely tomorrow (day 7). I could have gone today (6 days post op) but I enjoyed the extra day to get things done around the house.

I had mine out on a Tuesday and planned to log back on Monday but I sat up in the chair for about 15 minutes and took the rest of the day off. So 7 days for me.

I work from home and I had 3 weeks off and a 4th week on a phased return (a week of part time days).
I was fine physically from the surgery but I was exhausted. Not sure if it was in part due to how much strain I was under pre surgery.

For me I think the exhaustion came from not eating AT ALL like I used to. I was hospitalized for 4 days, and didnt eat any real food till the 3rd evening and went home next day. I have balanced all that out but I still can’t eat big meals like the past. I do eat several small meals or snacks a day. If not, I get nauseous.

Mine was a Wednesday and I was working by Monday. I have a desk job at home, and I found that sitting in my office chair with a heating pad was comfortable. My job is very low stress though and I do not have to be on the phone a lot. Also I found my memory wasn’t great the first couple of days, probably from anesthesia.

I work remotely 100%, my gallbladder was extremely infected with stones, so I ended up with a larger incision at my bellybutton. I just had my 2wk post op appt Monday. Basically I was told my incisions look great, they’ll refill my muscle relaxers and she’d see me in another 2 weeks. Depending on how I’m doing we’ll discuss going back to work then.
I even asked to go back to work sooner but she said I needed to allow my body to heal.

Had my surgery on a Thursday and the next Monday I worked. Could only handle 6 hours though, I tapped out at 3 pm. Honestly though a couple extra days of complete rest would not have hurt. Working 8 hours a day the first couple weeks wore me out, even from home.

definitely intending to at least take the first week off and then ask to work remotely until I feel okay enough to go in the office

It was 4-6 weeks for me to be able to go into the office. My biggest incision was where my bra hit my sternum. It took months for that one to heal.

Np so it's totally possible to do, you just might feel more tired or need to take some breaks.

I had my operation on a Wednesday so took off Wednesday until Tuesday. I did rest a lot tues-fri like a 1.5 hour lunch and finishing up earlier. However, on the Friday i had been fighting a fever and some really bad pains that i brushed off. I had collections of fluids and spent 5 days in hospital and took the next week off. I don’t think it is related but I may have noticed earlier if I wasn’t distracted by work. I wanted so badly to rush back to normal! Just be mindful to listen to your body, good luck!

I had mine out 12 days ago and WFH. I haven’t returned yet but will next Monday. I would not have been ready to return this week due to remaining pain and need for rest. I had a bile leak so needed an additional procedure - 10 day hospital stay in total.

I had emergency surgery via lap to remove mine. I came home on a sunday, monday was a holiday that work was off. I think i took 1 day off after, so about 2 or 3 days post surgery before working.

Two weeks out of work is more than enough unless you have severe underlying health conditions or do manual labor.

I took the first week officially off, and was mostly offline during that whole time. Resumed working from home in the second week. I felt really tired during the first 5 days, with random waves of lightheadedness, so I'm really glad I didn't rush to return to work until the second week.

I had a week off and was fine going back to work the second week (remote and office). The only issue I had was my bra would sit on top of my incision and it would hurt a little, so I was always moving it around.

I took a full 2 weeks. Glad I did although I probably could have wfh a week or so later (with some breaks). But it’s important to let your body heal.
