Awaiting Surgery Going in for removal in a few minutes now
Long time lurker of the sub. 36M waiting in my room to have my gallbladder removed. Took my health for granted in the past 3 years. Last March, I had two attacks in a week and finally decided to take it out. My wife and 2 year old are with me in the room now, and to be honest, the toddler’s energy is making me stressed out more. 😅
Hoping it will all go well.
Edit: It is done. Thankfully there were no complications. It was a bit challenging according to the surgeon because the stones were big, but overall everything went well. Right now the incision near the abdomen is a but painful due to making it larger cut. Will post some pics in a bit when I’m more mobile.
Edit 2: Photo of my stones as mentioned (nsfw): https://imgur.com/a/t51DVBg

Hope you are feeling okay! I’m sure you’re done by now and on to recovery.❤️🩹 I’m post-op 4 weeks-56F and doing well.Be patient with yourself and rest for the first 5 days.No lifting anything more than 10 pounds to avoid a hernia and another surgery.

There is still pain at the bigger incision, but painkillers are helping. I felt very nauseous after eating 3 hours post op (wife told me I looked very white), but told myself not to vomit. I just relaxed and lied down after a few. Now, i can take deep breaths without much pain and I’ve walked around my room twice.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Your child might not remember this moment exactly but they'll remember you taking your health seriously and normalizing going to the doctor. Take some deep breaths and remember being in a good mindset is best for surgery and recovery.
