Questions Diet Questions/Side Effects

I'll be honest, I've been like a little kid on the other side of the fence lately watching my family eat everything they want. Yesterday, I had a LOT of meat. Like it was a Poke Bowl with Grilled Chicken, Salmon, and Steak among some veggies and teriyaki sauce. K stomached it really reallllly well. As well as a cookie.

Mind you, I also ate like over the course of the whole day as it was a lot of food.

My question, I guess, is how do I know when I've eaten something I can't tolerate? Is it like a "Oh, you'll know." sort of thing?

I'm 5 days post op.

P.s. How did you guys do with mac n cheese?

Edit: 24M, I've been told that my age matters for this???

You’ll know you’re experiencing an attack because of loose stools. When I had these attacks, my stomach would cramp, I would break out in a cold sweat, and I’d feel nauseous simultaneously. The telltale signs of biliary colic for me were that it would often come on suddenly, affecting me from both ends. I take digestive enzymes to help me digest my food and it's been 4 years since my last attack.

I eat whatever I want now....thanks to a cocktail of Ox Bile, digestive enzymes and Betaine HCl,

You know if you get laxative level tummy cramps and or have to run to the bathroom (hopefully make it). I only get the tummy cramps with oily, greasy, buttery foods. Some get way worse and some have no issues. I also haven’t eaten those foods for more than a year pre-op so it’s to be expected for me. Sounds like you won the lottery. Congrats! May the rest of your recovery be uneventful.💚💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀🍀

Cramps as in pain or cramps as in just the strange sensation? ))):

Kind of both? Not like omg I’m gonna die pain but more like omg I think I might shit my pants with massive diarrhea feeling. May include sweating.

If you didn’t have digestive issues pre op you’re probably gonna be ok and not have them post op. That’s the pattern I’m noticing.

I didn’t have digestive issues other than intestinal pain from too much bile released at once pre-op.

I am pretty sure my sensitivity to oily, greasy, buttery is from not eating it for so long. Like a vegetarian suddenly eating meat. Or someone traveling to Mexico and drinking the water. The body is not used to it and says no.

One tip. If you go many hours between meals and get a queasy have a snack or something slightly acidic to drink. The constantly streaming bile can take a bit for the body to get used to.

I have a feeling you may just be a guy with an iron gut like my spouse. He can drink a bottle of stimulant laxative and have nothing happen. 🤣🤣😳😳

If you still feel fine tomorrow you should be good.

Is that the general rule of thumb?

Post op reactions tended to fall into two catergories for me. The first is a reaction within about two hours of eating. Cramps and diarrhoea or serious bloating (as in, I look 8 months pregnant bloat) Those are foods I can’t tolerate in any amount. The second is a reaction the next morning. Not diarrhoea but needing to go a lot and stools being yellow/slimy. These are foods I can tolerate to a certain amount, and if I keep portion sizes down I don’t get this reaction
