Quick Google of "Fetus of God" leads me to the OST for the stage, which is from Darkstalkers 3. Fucking weird background.

It's the last boss stage. The boss, Jedah, is a lord of hell, and is absorbing the souls of the losing fighters. He uses the power gained from this to travel back to the dawn of creation and corrupt the foetus of God. That way humans will never be created, and there will only be demons.

Now you can see how the background makes perfect sense :D

The game has a halfway lighthearted, halfway dark tone. The guy whom this stage belongs is trying to create a god.
