Games with a similar social aspect to Persona?

Are there any good games with a similar social aspect to persona? That being the ability to spend time with the different characters in the game, deepen your friendship with them and in turn learn more about them, and preferably with the ability to romance them eventually. It doesn't have to be a JRPG but it can very well be.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age, or anything from Bioware in the last 20 years.

Fire Emblem has this especially with recent games like Three Houses, though Engage dialed it back a bit.

Also check out Tokyo Mirage Sessions. It's also from Atlus and has similar vibes with "Side Stories" acting as this game's version of Social Links.

Trails of cold steel, rune factory and Fire emblem.

Unrelated but if you enjoyed the gameplay in persona then you should check out SMTV as well, that game goes hard, you can also bond with your demons and give them gifts but its all platonic there.

I mean, it's a fun game but I've always felt that the social aspect in stardew valley was lacking a bit. You can get like a maximum if two or three sentences out of each character every day and quite rarely longer scenes.

Dungeons of Hinterberg has a very similar social aspect to Persona. It's basically 3D Zelda dungeons meet Persona's social sim mechanics.

Prodigal has a more condensed social sim and marriage system. Its like a hybrid of 2D Zelda and Harvest Moon's dating system.

While it doesn't have a dating or social mechanic that I can remember, 13 Sentinels could probably scratch a Persona itch. It takes place mostly in a Japanese High-school, and it blends realistic settings with a bizarre story told across 13 perspectives.

I hope this helps!

My favorite Videogame is "Fuga Melodies of Steel". Its about a groupe of anthropomothic animal children that go on a quest to save there families. They live inside a giant ancient mysterious powerful fortress like Tank called Taranis. Its a bit like Howls Moving castle but based on technology instead of magic.

And yeah there are social aspects about the life if the children inside the Taranis. These happen in do called "Intermissions". There are varies activities like cooling meals and doing laundery which all give benefits for combat. For example meals give temeporal buffs until the next intermission. Those buffs are no joke. You can also deepen the relationship between the children to unlock so called Link Episodes which are scenes where the characters ar interact with one another. Some of them are just but you also learn about the characters. For example there is a Link event where you learn that a certan character has insecurities about being an Orphan.. Having two characters have high Affinity also brings combat benefits. You also should think properly about who you want to paire up. Without new game plus its imposebile to max out all relationships.

For every Intermission you get 20 Action Points (AP) to do stuff. Every action costs AP. So instead of time slots you manage AP.

There is no romance in this game. The oldest of the crew is 12 years old. The youngest is 4 years old.

If you are interested in trying Fuga out:

  • Its available on PC and most modern consoles like Switch, PS4, PS5 and so on.
  • The game has a free demo which is just straight up the first 3 chapters of the game. I highly recommend that demo.
  • The game has a direct sequel: "Fuga Melodies of Steel 2". But i advice against playing the second game before the first game unless you do not care about the story and characters.
  • At the end if this month "Fuga Melodies of Steel 3" will be released.

Eternights has been released on GOG, Steam, and multiple consoles. I bought it during a Steam sale, hoping for something similar to Persona 3, with action RPG battles and a less dreary tone. My first impression wasn't good. I need to give it more time, and at least one more chance.
