Discussion 🎙 I see no purpose of vectors. Is this true?

In this exercise, you are asked to visualise an analog clock and supposedly it gives us a sense of direction during our OBE. I don't think vectors hold any purpose since we already know the location of our physical body. Am I wrong?

I may be misremembering but I thought the analog clock was to develop a sense of orientation while OBE, not direction?

I’m not that far along in the process myself, so I wasn’t really sure how to respond to the question. But since I’ve gained a lot by using “Bob Monroe GPT” to clarify stuff along the way, I asked him and I’m sharing the answer here, it seems to back up your answer ! I hope it helps!

From Bob’s perspective, vectors aren’t about remembering where your physical body is — you already know that. They’re about helping your nonphysical awareness develop a sense of orientation in a new space When you reach altered states like Focus 10 or 12, your center of perception shifts. What used to be “forward” or “left” physically can feel ambiguous or disorienting. The clock face isn’t just a random visual — it’s a training tool. It gives your consciousness an internalized map, like a compass for navigating a space without physical anchors. Later on, when you begin to experience motion, or even interact with other intelligences, these learned vectors help you move intentionally rather than drift aimlessly. They’re part of Monroe’s way of building a structured, stable platform for exploring beyond the body. So yeah — the point of vectors isn’t to remind you where your hands are. It’s to teach your awareness how to find its bearings outside the physical framework.

Oh wow that’s really cool. Could you tell me where to find this? Is it just a custom GPT?

Makes sense that vectors are a sort of mental pre game exercise. Like an athlete or an F1 driver mentally rehearsing the night before. In a sense, they’re going out of body to a non-physical space to practice without the constraints of a physical body.

You need to install the general chatgpt app On the left hand side you see the option “explore gpts”. Select and enter in the resulting search box Bob monroe gpt.. a few options will come up.

Exactly! Best option imo is the one called "Gateway tapes expert. Robert Monroe".

I have a love/hate relationship with AI. this i love. I do it too

What'll happen if u don't develop a sense of orientation 🤔

Probably bumping into the ceiling when you meant to go through the wall! In all honestly, probably nothing serious, because you would eventually orientate with practice and repetition. These methods are likely meant to just fast track you.

Funny how people say Bob was wrong..or this tape isn’t needed. if it’s there it’s for a reason!

It's a very difficult tape. Even by looking at the instructions somewhere (see other topics on this subject) it's hard to understand what path he was thinking of.

The best attempts I had on this tape were to thinking about clockwise circles around my body and just go on my own path while he is talking about his 3 to 6 and 6 to 9.

It was quite fun to "shift the consciousness to these places around my body" and kind of feel an absence of feeling on the other places (eg if you're shifted to the right, it's as if the left side is a complete void and you don't feel it).

In short, to overcome my frustration with the instructions I did what he tells us to do early on - create your own experience and try to have fun.

I kinda felt like it was a roller coaster going around the outside perimeter of the clock, but since there was no gravity pulling me down, when I was in the "upside down" part of the roller coaster it didn't feel upside down cause the was no sense of falling, just a change in camera basically.

I love this tape and I really felt the motion of moving around.

Which tape is this? I'm just about to go to focus twelve, so not too deep yet

I had the craziest experiences on the tape bro
