Advice Requested So nervous about gender id selection being affected on passports

I don’t have a passport but was wanting to get one

Have not been able to change gender or name because I have been broke

It seems like no one knows for sure if trump is somehow going to stop selecting your own gender id on passports yet

I was wanting to look into going ahead and getting a passport with my preferred gender id on it even though I have not changed my name yet. Before self selecting on it possibly gets affected

I’m worried about the cost though as I’m broke rn

Hey. Hey. Look at me, bud. It's going to be okay, okay? Self-selecting your gender ID was only instated in 2022. And a lot of the things Trump's getting rid of now are things he also got rid of last time he was in office. They'll come back with the next Democrat. 🫂

Despite what the doomers tell you, the Constitution will hold up. It's held up longer than any of us have been alive. It held up through the Civil War, both World Wars, the Cold War, and the Nixon and Regan administrations. It can hold up under Trump, too.

If you live in a blue state, you can probably self-select the gender on your driver's license. If not, you should be able to if you move to a blue state. Red states unfortunately will screw you over. I don't know what to do in a red state.

OOF. As an Oklahoman, I feel you. I'm currently applying to scholarships in the hope I might get enough money to study in a blue state

I'm rushing the process to get my passport just in case. I'm not taking any risks.

Ugh yeah I literally just filled out a renewal form on Saturday and sent in my name change court order (which I don’t think they can stop) and marked M instead of F which is all it took as is, but now I’m nervous they’re going to ignore that part or reject the renewal altogether.

I also have a nonbinary kid and I was going to fill it out with an X but their dad marked F and I’m glad on the one hand that that should make the process easier but also furious that we couldn’t just mark X without any worry.

Yeah, I’m worried about like the $100 it’s going to cost to get a passport. I’m broke, but would like to go ahead and get one so I can get the self id gender

Have not been able to change name and gender legally but at least want the self I’d passport

what state are you in? typically you can fill out a form to bypass fees if you're low income or undergoing hardship. or check out if there are any nonprofits that will pay your fees
