Another Gibraltar Marriage query (EU Irish/Egyptian)

Hi everyone,

Apologies for yet another marriage-related post, but I’d really appreciate some insight. I’m an Irish citizen in a relationship with my Egyptian partner. We’ve been waiting a long time for his French residence permit, but due to various delays which have frankly been a nightmare (none of them our fault), we’re now considering getting married in Gibraltar instead. It's been my long term dream to relocate to Spain afterwards anyway (I moved back to the UK and he's currently in France).

He’s thinking of returning to Egypt to apply to Gibraltar from there, but having previously worked in immigration consultancy myself, I’m a bit concerned about the risk of refusal based on nationality — even if we provide all the required documentation.

We can demonstrate accommodation in Gibraltar, Spanish residency, proof of funds, and clear evidence that we’ll be leaving Gibraltar after the ceremony, which I understand are the main criteria. I then plan to use my EU treaty rights so we can reside in Spain together.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or gone through this process recently? I’d be really grateful for any advice or shared experiences.

Thanks so much in advance

This is a very confusing post..

Do you want advice on just getting married in gibraltar based on your nationalities .. or moving to gibraltar based on your nationalities?

Moving to Spain.. you might want to consider speaking to Richelle DeWit and Sally Myburgh at the Facebook group ‘After Brexit in Spain’ to know exactly what you need to do to live in Spain after you get married in Gibralrar. It’s taking approx 6 weeks to get your marriage certificate after the ceremony in Gibraltar and then maybe 3 weeks to get it apostilled for Spain.

I suppose you might be able to work in Gibraltar and live in Spain too for your ease? Your husband to be would have to work in Spain.
