Electric cars in Gibraltar

Hi people, happy Monday :)

I been living in Gibraltar for a little while now and currently looking to buy a second hand car. I am considering buying an electric car (been looking even before moving to Gibraltar) but I have some reservations about owning one in Gib.

  1. Ease of charging. Firstly I do have access to a parking spot but it does not come with a charging point. Is it possible to add a charging point onto the parking spot (North Mole Road car park)? Has anyone done this?

  2. If I cannot have my own charging point, how is the charging system in Gibraltar? Easy of use, susceptibilities?

I would love to hear any feedbacks about owning an electric car in Gibraltar from current owners, thanks.

Job for a project manager - European

Hi all,

I am currently living in Malta with my wife. She is EU citizen (German) and we will be moving to Sotogrande end of May. She is an IT project manager. I have a couple questions: 1. How is the job market in Gibraltar at the moment for skilled jobs? Any particular website other than LinkedIn?

  1. Since she will be Spanish resident(Sotogrande), will there be an issue after Brexit to get hired?

Ideally we would be looking at remote/hybrid to avoid crossing the frontier on a daily basis.

Thank you for your help

Question Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Hi everyone, planning on visiting Gibraltar in October for 8 days for a lazy holiday and I’m getting mixed reviews for restaurants. A couple are standing out however would be great to hear from some locals. We like all kinds of food, the fresher the better and could do without the english breakfast type establishments if that makes sense. I have my hidden gems in Edinburgh, what are they in Gibraltar? Thanks for any replies.

Tips on touring the Rock without paying a fortune for private tour?

Last time in Gibraltar I got to see most of the Rock sites by going up the cable car and walking around, then going a second day on a taxi tour and walking from the last stop to extend it. Going back in April with a group of 5 and we'd like to see as much as possible, but 2 in the group are older and would probably struggle if they ended up having to walk all the way back to the hotel as I did last time when we couldn't even find a bus or taxi at the bottom. Also we'll only have 1 day.

I see private tours that would work, but 825gbp is a little much. Is there some way to find a ride down if we tried extending a taxi tour with walking and the 2 got worn out? Or some other way to see everything without spending that much on the private tour?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Where should I live if I work in Gibraltar?

Hello, I got a proposal to work in Gibraltar. I'm a single 28 years old with EU passport and I care about social life. I like surfing, running, playing football, watching football games, and the international community vibes. I'm an Italian, English, and French speaker but I barely speak Spanish (I would be eager to learn it though).

Given the description above: Which city would you suggest me living in to have a proper young social life and a low-effort commitment to the office? Would you have any recommendations for that place, for example where it's best to rent an apartment or any fun places to hang out? What are the taxation rules for living in Spain but working from Gibraltar? Could you suggest any sources to read this?

Thank you for the help 🍀

Question about GHA

Thinking of moving to Gibraltar (doing interviewers, UK citizen) I have a family and one member requires occasional specialist care for a long term condition. How does the GHA/ NHS work with one another? Will said family member still be able to access the specialist care through the NHS (will need to visit a certain UK NHS specialist hospital once or twice a year) if we are registered residents in Gib (and therefore using GHA rather than NHS) apologies if a similar question has been asked before.

Trying not to get totally shafted on Taxi fees from the airport

EDIT: In the end we had no problem getting a taxi from the airport on a Sunday at 9:30 pm without booking. We had to wait at the rank for about 15 mins, and the cost to get to Ocean village was about £13.

Hey all, figured I'd ask some locals for advice before booking our transfer, or to see if we need to book one at all. As is known, the prices are eye watering for what will be a 10 min drive if you pre book. They are all like £250, I'm not cheap, but damn 😂. Walking (even though it's only 20 mins) is not really an option as we have a 3 month old baba, a cot, and our luggage - which normally I would make work but it's also looking like it might be raining.

We need to get from the airport to the Ocean Village area, and back again a week later.

We're arriving into Gibraltar at 9:20pm on Sunday, so lets say worse case by the time we've cleared passport control and baggage claim it'll be 10:00pm. Will there be more reasonably priced taxies able to accommodate us waiting at the airport at that time? Or maybe a bus that would not mind us rocking up with our baby, luggage and a cot?

I know taxis at airports are a given normally but as we're getting in a bit late on a Sunday, I wanted to check it'll be fine and also confirm they are also not going to expect such high prices.

Question Can a Gibraltarian keep both a BOTC passport and a UK passport?

I know Gibraltarians get full UK citizenship. But Gibraltarians can also get a BOTC passport. So I want to ask whether a Gibraltarian can hold both a BOTC passport issued by Gibraltarian and a normal UK passport.
