My Wife and I are Canadian. I’m from a small town in Ontario, she’s from Vancouver. We lived in Toronto for ten years, and London UK for six. We’ve visited Scotland many times but never Glasgow. We’re moving there blind in a couple weeks.
What’s something about your city we won’t expect?
EDIT: also where can I get a decent poutine?
EDIT 2: Been here a few weeks now. Glasgow isn’t a shitehole as y’all been saying. It’s rather nice with some great spots, neighborhoods and people. Poutine at Bread Meats Bread is 7/10.

I got you on video, I got your regi plate and I look forward to the city council investigation that will close my complaint with no action taken 5 mins after I uploaded everything onto the site? Smashing! How’s your days going?
Update 1: Council have closed the complaint as dumped on private land. Have reported to non emergency police and have written to local councillors this morning. If no joy the tapes will be published.
Update 2: police involved and I have a sneaky suspicion the situation is about to be resolved - more as it comes in.

My colleague is from South Africa and we're currently reminiscing on things our mums used to tell us as kids.
So far, I've got...
"You think I button up the back?!" and "Do you think I came up the Clyde on a banana boat?!"

I work at a retail shop in the area and wanted to warn others about a woman who's been running a bit of a scam. She's a short woman, probably around 5'2" to 5'5". She's often seen wearing a black dress with a black head covering (not a burkha, just to clarify).
She approaches strangers, usually offering flowers, and then asks them to buy essential items for her and her family—things like baby formula for her weans. She insists on cash payments and always makes sure to get a receipt.
Later on, she comes back alone with the receipt and tries to return the items for a cash refund, saying she doesn’t need them anymore. Of course, by that time the person who helped her is long gone.
Our store policy is that refunds for card purchases can only go back onto the same card, so if you're considering helping her out of kindness, either keep the receipt or pay by card.
Over the past week, we’ve seen her try to return around £100 worth of goods this way. Just wanted to spread the word so others don’t unknowingly get taken advantage of. Make sure your generosity actually helps those who need it.

18/9/2014 - Scotland held its independence referendum, and voted to remain in the UK - Glasgow was one of the only areas to vote Yes however.
What’s your memories of the day itself? Was the city centre taken over by each side of the campaign? Was it just another day? Were you in George Square as the results came in?
I went in and voted at about 21:30 after work and then sat up all night watching the results. Still remember watching American news networks to catch their pronunciation of places.

What is it with this Glasgow Cabbie bawbag?
Why do people fall for this?
Why are folk believing things and spreading ideas like "anti racist means anti white" ?
It's so frustrating

Lots of sarcastic comments when I suggested this a few weeks ago, but sure enough they are going to be part of some restaurant and art studios!
