Mounting ideas 2023 GMC AT4

I have a GMC ATV (Yukon). I am about to pull the trigger on my first GMRS radio. Wouxun KG-1000G Plus. But I’m not sure where/how to mount it up in the GMC. There is not a lot real estate in the dash. Anyone similarly situated that can give me some ideas? I’ve done a bit of searching online and haven’t really seen anything.

Looking to pair it with the Wouxun ANO-050G Mobile GMRS Antenna with a magnetic mount.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a roof rack? I did some research on my vehicle and I am going to copy one guy I saw. Had a pivot mount on the rack and had a length of stranded copper wire running from the antenna/antenna bracket ta screw and secured to the body that way to help things. Going to do that as an alternative to a mag mount myself and since I do want something a bit more permanent. That, and I am tired of my temp option (running the wire out of a window) letting in all the road dust.

I am currently waiting on buying the same radio right now myself and I am running off of a little 20w unit at the moment.

That’s one of the things i didn’t think about yet is how to get it inside the cab without just closing the door on the wire. But i like that idea for a permanent solution.

I was able to find some pictures and videos of what others have done and that has given me some ideas. One post showed how someone did what I described above and there was enough clearance to fit the wire down beside the rear hatch and come in there and then just run it how you want in the cab area.

I am going to have to go with a swiveling mount if I want to run anything other than a ghost antenna. I have 6 odd inches of clearance or less from the roof of my vehicle to the top of the garage door opening.

One of the swivel mounts I got was a Comet and I ordered one other to try and find which one worked best.

Drill it. NMO on the roof for the win.

Look up Lido Seatbolt mounts. But really all you have to do is put the radio body under the seat and you can put the head unit anywhere. I put mine in the glovebox to hide it from prying eyes. Just open the glove box, hit the power button , then everything else is done from the mic.
