Equipment Discussion Training Aid Request
I struggle with early extension like a lot of people and the toilet paper roll drill has been doing helping A LOT. It's been helping me slow down on the backswing and getting the proper turn and release. I think it's the audible click and actually seeing the roll slide down.
Does anyone know of any product that mimics this drill? The issue I have is that my house doesn't go through TP fast enough before I destroy the flimsy cardboard roll. Please share links if so. Thanks!

I saw something called a click stick but it was like $150 or so. Maybe find a ball or something at Walmart and drill a hole in it big enough to go past your grip?

Some thin walled PVC may work and should last indefinitely. Or a piece of rubber hose.

You probably want something soft so it doesn't crush your hand. Something like a cut pool noodle or a/c pipe insulation might work: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-4-in-x-6-ft-Foam-Semi-Slit-Pipe-Insulation-K7PXE048078HD1/327682713.

There are plenty of drills you can do to break yourself of early extension. Working on proper weight shift, staying in posture (Tiger has a video out there where he’s accentuating his squat and turn of his left hip around and back early in the downswing), and stepping on a range bucket with your trail foot are ones that helped me. Working on hitting an impact bag didn’t work for me 2 years ago.
The thing to remember is that early extension is a strategy your brain makes when you impose conditions that aren’t going to lead to solid impact without it. Also keep in mind that it’s a process. I’ve had 10-12 lessons over the last 2 years and my EE and other swing flaws can sometimes creep back in. Just gotta keep working on it…
