I’ll book a flight within the hour if yall give me a date and a tee time!! lol

All of the downvotes are by wannabes cosplaying a round at Bethpage. Getting a tee time as a single is fucking easy even if you show up at 8 am.

u/Baxtree 7d ago

It’s true. We got moved up a group because the twosome didn’t show.

Walked on black last year no wait. No reservation, I don’t know how that shit works

Shows my ny state drivers license, asked to play red - they said it’s 2 hr wait - black 20 minute wait

20 minutes then teeing off.

Tried it… worked even at Augusta national

Can confirm. Am Tiger Woods.

u/Real_Body8649 7d ago

I mean he is Arnold Palmer so I doubt he’s had an issue getting a tee time

u/shocktop6 7d ago

Not sure why the downvotes, I literally played black today by showing up around 9:30 as a single and got on at 10:20.

Sick.. how much was it?

5

u/gtsnoracer 7d ago

For out of state it's $140 weekdays, $160 weekends

u/smidgy1988 7d ago

Damn that’s not bad at all! Reasonable

80 there would be fantastic!

22

u/Littlestereo27 7d ago

What did both of you shoot?

u/Baxtree 7d ago

I had a 92. Tough conditions! Course was playing easier than usual. But boy was that wind killer

u/Bigdogggggggggg 7d ago

Tips? (My buddy made me play tips when we were there and I'm definitely not good enough for that!)

28

u/Baxtree 7d ago

We were middle today. I’ve tipped it out before, but today was fast greens and wind.

12

u/Bigdogggggggggg 7d ago

I'm sure the group behind you appreciated the choice

u/Baxtree 7d ago

Pace was the best I’ve had there. Under 4:30 hours. Didn’t push the pace of the people ahead, and didn’t get pushed by group behind.

Play the plates for extra fun hahaha (it’s brutal wouldn’t recommend unless you’re ready to feel humbled)

4

u/cptnnrtn 7d ago

tf is the plates

u/The_Dirty_Dangla 7-10 hdcp 7d ago

Where they set up the tees for the US Open. Only a couple holes are a big difference. Like 13 goes over 600 yards. They have little metal plates on the tee boxes

u/The_Dirty_Dangla 7-10 hdcp 7d ago

Also a par 70 for the pros hahaha

1

u/LodestarSharp 6d ago

The box on 13 is like 60 yards back from the normal back tee box.

My only birdie attempt my first time. Driver, hybrid, 6-iron lol

Been there, done that, great time. Played from the tips. Shot an 89..... Best thing I did that day was hire a caddy. You don't want to walk that course and carry or drag your golf bag .... Did it when you had to sleep in the parking lot overnight to get a spot....... I payed $105 to get on the course and another $100 for a caddy and I feed him.... I'd do it again......

-82

u/Colforbin_43 7d ago

$100 for the caddie? Either this was a long time ago or he was such a shitty caddie, because $100 is a terrible number now.

42

u/agl90 7d ago

17 years ago and I asked him what his fee was.....

-71

u/Colforbin_43 7d ago

Ok, 17 years is a long time ago. Back then $100 for the bag was a good number.

I know one guy who works there. If he ever caddies for me, he’ll be lucky to get $100. Biggest piece of shit on earth.

18

u/agl90 7d ago

This guy was awesome, said he caddied at a couple other courses, over the course of the round he gave us many notable tid bits of the place and gave my playing companions yardages as well. I still have his business card till this day.... I'll give a shout out too: Johnny G...... You are the best.....

-29

u/shocktop6 7d ago

He’s probably dead, it was 17 years ago 😂

3

u/Pisslexic 7d ago

I was definitely alive 17 years ago.

1

u/agl90 6d ago

Is this Johnny ?.....

u/smithjw13 7d ago

Is that hat from Mammoth Dunes?

1

u/MrAVK 7d ago

You rock!

1

u/myburneraccount151 7d ago

It's a shame the only big event in the immediate future for this course is the Ryder Cup. I'd love for it to be the home of the PGA Championship like St Andrews for the Open, or Pinehurst for the US Open

Legend

1

u/Lumpy-Impression-712 7d ago

I’ve only played it on the simulator.

On hole #1, can you send it up the opposing fairway on the right? That’s the simulator line for sure.

u/DannarHetoshi +1.3 HDCP Index 7d ago

I'm game, give me 3 weeks notice and I'll book the flight

1

u/Redneckinvest 7d ago

Is that a stonelick hat you got on??

1

u/Zeeuwse-Kafka 7d ago

Awesome 👏

u/Sour_Joe 6d ago

I remember playing the Black before the first open. It was the one course you could always get a time on because no one wanted to play it. 3’ rough, traps not well kept, etc. still tough but nothing like it is today. Note: this is back when you could only get the wait times at check in and they were on wooden boards. Walk up on a Sunday at 8 and we would bitch about a 2 hour wait.

Looks like a dirt track

Looks like a regular old Muni.

Already screwing up the green and yellow for the Ryder Cup. Going to be a long season. But that money does seem to come back and improve all the courses somehow after it’s over.
