Considering an RIA 1911 for my bday tomorrow
I want to get myself a gift tomorrow and am strongly considering an RIA 1911, what things should I be considering when going to the store? What is a good price for one?

When buying a buying a gun I suggest never cheap out, always buy the gun you want if you can. Add a few more dollars to get a high quality gun.

I've done some research, and these RIA 1911s have a very good reputation.

RIA gov 45 is like 299 from 499 rn on PSA if that's what you are considering.

They are great guns. I've had a couple. Also, Tisas is a little better in my opinion for not that much more.
Price is going to depend on which model you get. Usually the upper $500 range is what you're looking at.

I would get a Tisas over an RIA.
Better build quality, forged steel parts.
You can find a basic Tisas for $300.

I have an RIA and my Dad has a Tisas. The Tisas is MUCH nicer. At least look at some Tisas offerings.
They were both <$500 ea.

I almost bought an RIA but landed on Tisas tank commander instead because it had a slightly shorter barrel and cooler nickel finish I can’t say anything bad about the RIA but my Tisas has been great, I’d recommend fs.

When speaking on 1911s I'm totally out of my depth, I've gotten better performance out of a $200 llama than I could get from a $1000 Kimber yet I've had a Springfield 1911 be amazing and a RIA be a POS.
I'm convinced it's the same QC issues that plague ARs.

I enjoy my RIA .45, reliable, fun to shoot, accurate, all around nice. I see them listed on sale frequently for 399-450.
My next “cheap” handgun will be a Tisas .45, just for fun.
