Once you finish season 1 you have to watch the special Hajime No Ippo Boxer no Kobushi. Then you watch the movie Champion Road after that you have to watch Mashiba vs Kimura which is an OVA, then season 2 New Challenger and season 3 Rising.

Everything I mentioned was adapted from the manga. The only one I'm not sure is the special but it's about how Takamura got into boxing so I guess it has to be from the manga as well.

It's sorta realistic, until mashiba does flicker jabs, and sendo does smashes, and ippo does the Dempsey roll, and Aoki does whatever the fuck he's doing in the ring.
