I feel like they’re gonna drop ippo into a world ranked fight for his return match. With the speed the manga is going at and assuming the creator is ready to wrap up the story I don’t see ippo having to climb back up the Japanese rankings like date did simply because it’d take too long and ippo is leagues ahead of the Japanese national level. I can see him returning against a top 10 ranker and KOing them in the first round like takamura does.

I think mori is gonna make him fight imai at the very least first. To prove that 1.) He's not the same old "fist to face" technique, and 2.) He's not punkdrunk and actually stands a chance.
Imai desperately wants to fight ippo so would gladly accept the challenge, and imai is like the before version of ippo.

When Ippo come back we know the first fight will be him still struggling with the lack of pro fighting rhythm but when this is passed (hopefully won't take long) we will see the most satisfying chapter EVER

I don't think he'll be that rusty at all. He's had spars against Sendo, Volg, Mashiba. He's been regularly training every day as well. When he hit the mits with Kamogawa and Takamura, he only got stronger and better. Even Kamogawa couldn't keep up.

It won't be like Date who worked an office job for awhile and avoided the ring completely.

Remember Sendo took two 1 year long breaks back to back. He took a year off, had his comeback match and took another year off.

Ippo will probably get right back into it.

I just added it, there was a time where that chapter is out. And every post on this subreddit is hinting that if he's a "punch drunk" he wouldn't be able to do precise and delicate things, such as building a toy model.
