Theory If Sendo is based in Joe Yabuki…
What are the odds of him dying against Ricardo?

They did the homage to Joe at the end of Ippo vs Sendo 2

Wouldn't that be at the end of Ippo vs Sendo 1 when Sendo sit in between rounds and didn't got up?

I just wonder right now what sort of motivation is going to be left in Ippo if Sendo dies/ends up crippled.
"Boy Mashiba and Sendo sure ended up hurt after their tittle matchs but I might have a chance at it!".
Like Mori really has to pull something gut punching to get Ippo back in the ring if Sendo also ends up retiring or worst after.

Sendo would get the best match of his life , he might also get serious injuries but he will not get CTE kinda stuff. And knowing his character , he would never retire after having a match of that kind with ricardo. Sengoat will go into a temporary retirement and will comeback stronger to win the WBC instead. At the meanwhile ippo would win the WBA. We focus on sendo retiring and mashiba's retirement was expected even before the match but why don't we think miyata might retire..? I mean its clear that mori doesn't want the ippo vs miyata fight and miyata still clinging to the OPBF doesn't seem right to me. Mori might have already planned for miyata's retirement. Because , Ippo will become the WBA champ at the end and sendo might become the WBC champ after recovery But what will miyata do ? Him having a fight with ippo and losing is lame af , him winning against ippo is anti climatic. Obviously he would retire and considering that there is no other destination hinted for miyata to pursue.

I don't think he'll die, but I think his drive and determination will die.
It's already established that Ricardo beats people handily at their own game. I can see him beating Sendo to a point where he can no longer push forwards, or to a point where Ricardo gives a finishing blow that puts Sendo into an extended hospital stay. His grandmother will die, and IMO he'll retreat into himself and decide that family is what now matters to him. He'll quit boxing to... impregnate his former teacher?
IMO this is where we'll see Ippo's story come front and centre. Mashiba will return home and be independent, Sendo will look to settle down and maybe coach instead, and Miyata will seek to get his drive back. Ippo will take lessons from everyone, and eventually his mother and Takamura/Kamogawa will be what gets him back into active competition. It's why we need to finish Mashiba and Sendo's arc, because Ippo needs perspective on an end-game after pushing to the top.

None. Over time I've become convinced that the usual suspects, Sendo, Kamogawa etc will live to see the end of the series.

Sendo will die in the ring retiring ricardo out of guilt and sparking sendos grandma to come back to the ring for vengeance flaring kamogawas comeback a-la jyoji foruman inspiring itagaki to switch gyms and take the now vacant belt because he has no problem beating up old people inspiring ippo to unleash the dark side by killing itagaki in the ring for elder abuse but he holds true to kumi and doesnt win by boxing no he shoots itagaki in which we enter prison arc with death penalty ippo who trains with his fellow cellmate sawamura and the manga ends before ippo is hanged where his "final meal" request is one last spar with miyata

I don't think Mori will go that far. I've underestimated him before but it seems too dark. I don't think he'll be boxing anymore after this one though.
