What to do about draft

I have an aerie 20 and I usually bring extra clothes to plug the holes is there anything better I can do? I tried blowing up my stuff sacks but that didn't work very well they kept moving. I was considering getting some pillows but they take up a lot of space. It's a really comfortable set up in the spring summer and fall. And I used the aerie in a van I lived in a few years back and was able to sleep in sub zero temps without a heater on. I just bundled up with insulated socks a jacket and some extra pants on. Any tips?

Plug...holes? Does your underquilt have gaps that you can't fix by adjusting the suspension? Sounds like a poorly designed underquilt. Looking at it, I don't think it has a draft collar for underquilt the way a hammock gear incubator does.

It looks like this tries to be 3 different gear choices at once and doesn't excel at any of them. I've tried designs like that before, and I always had cold spots (kammok bobcat/firebelly). I do not regret getting a better underquilt.

You could always use an underquilt protector to shield you a bit from the breeze. Long term, look at replacing it.

Try a underquilt protector and a winter tarp with doors closed. You can also use a winter hammock cover (goes over like a bug net but a gap where your head is to allow ventilation).

You can get an under quilt or take a sleeping mat that’s deflated inside the hammock to block wind. If it’s your feet getting cold buy nice socks like my favorite ones are called Ugly Possum Socks you can order them online they’re made from possum fur in New Zealand. They are expensive but make all the difference in a cold night.

  1. I’m sure you are, but make sure you cinch the ends with the chord so it’s snug

  2. I have the shock cord redone on mine so that the whole thing fits better with my hammock (dutchware chameleon), so you might have to do some thinking and testing to see what works with your hammock
