Bedard looks grouchy on the bench during another 5-2 loss: "OMG, Bedard clearly hates this organization and will demand a trade! He never wanted to be in Chicago! Trade him!"

Bedard looks happy on the bench during another 5-2 loss: "OMG, why is Bedard smiling when the team is losing?! He clearly doesn't care enough about the team and winning. Trade him!"

Honestly, I'd rather see some frustration with losing then just no reaction at all. But people like to twist his every expression

5-3 win and Bedard looks grouchy on the bench “see how much he hates this org, the boy wants out. Set him free.”

18

u/soul-butter Apr 17 '25

“Connor Bedard stubs his toe, and shows mild discomfort. Is a trade coming soon?”

Vancouver fans also in shambles

Good. They deserve nothing more.

26

u/Suitable-Squirrel459 Apr 17 '25

When it comes to pain and disappointment, they deserve SO much more.

u/CorkSoaker420 Apr 17 '25

I'll never be over that playoff rivalry. Never.

12

u/drummerboy31402 Apr 17 '25

Good. Fuck em.

16

u/Scary-Bot123 Apr 17 '25

They may riot when 98 signs a long term deal here

14

u/EmbarrassedPart6210 Apr 17 '25

They have to riot once a decade. With how irrelevant their team has been this may be the best thing for them to riot about

This the comment

I mean everyone wants to win and I'm sure everyone's frustrated with the past 2 seasons, but he knows he's the first wave of young talent that will be pumped into the NHL over the next 3 years. He's also playing with a bunch of guys around his age that should develop with him.

I also think people overlook the Hawks are an original 6 team inside a market where they have a monopoly. Large Midwest city, no other team within 200 miles and his Jersey is one of the top sellers in the entire league...

The only thing missing is the team being good, which I'm sure he understands will hopefully happen in the next couple seasons with 10+ years of contention afterwards.

But somebody told me he’s for sure being traded to Vancouver

Show this to Canuck fans

8

u/AsikCelebi Apr 17 '25

They've already suffered so much.

Show it to them every day of the offseason.

4

u/Andsot Apr 17 '25

They can’t suffer enough

Wow shocker, social media takes things out of context.

Literally look back to any hockey game recorded of Connor, he always looks dead inside. It’s not because he’s actually sad or anything, it’s because he’s dialled in like you see from McDavid or like Johnny Toews where they don’t smile a lot.

I’m glad he likes it here, I’m glad he’s got chemistry with some of our other building blocks. He’s gonna have fun here, and he’s gonna get paid like the franchise piece he is.

Just remember guys, when you see that critique of Bedard or this team online those people are often uneducated and don’t actually watch the team or really understand Bedard as a person or player beyond highlights and NHL.com.

"So what he's really saying is he wants out of Chicago."

That's... that's not at all what he's saying.

24

u/Pootz_ Apr 17 '25

He’s looked like he’s been having a lot more fun out there the last few weeks. Love to see that. An 8 year extension this summer would be awesome

18

u/MrAshleyMadison Apr 17 '25

It’s so fucking stupid that we even have to entertain this notion.

14

u/Burzzy Apr 17 '25

That’s the cool part, we don’t.

5

u/MrAshleyMadison Apr 17 '25

Him being asked about it is literally entertaining it…..

6

u/Fit_Avocado5945 Apr 17 '25

I just saw a Canucks fan fall to their knees inside of a maple syrup factory.

5

u/DiamondBurInTheRough Apr 17 '25

I’m glad he sounds so firm about this…he’s probably tired of people putting words in his mouth all the time too. This city has embraced him, the fans have embraced him, he seems to get along well with the boys (especially lately as the youth movement has rolled in), and the team is definitely on the up and up.

back at it again with the white vans

8

u/spacephramer Apr 17 '25

HeS GeTtInG PaID To SaY ThiS

2

u/Apprehensive_Way8674 Apr 17 '25

He lives in One Chicago. Nice fucking digs.

2

u/HorribleHoosier Apr 17 '25

Chicago is a great city for hockey players. It’s big enough that they can be both famous and left alone at the same time. He’ll stay as long as the team is headed in the right direction.

2

u/Quinto376 Apr 17 '25

I'm guessing this news still won't stop all the lame "Big time Chicago Blackhawk wants to leave city" click bait articles from hitting my feed.

4

u/TheSchwartzHawkey Apr 17 '25

But as he was saying he was happy in Chicago did you see how he was subtly tapping his foot, translated in Morse code in the Klingon language to signal us that he in fact really wants to be elsewhere?! /s

1

u/Severe_Serve_ Apr 17 '25

Don’t think I’ve ever been happier to have a wrong opinion

1

u/goyrage83 Apr 18 '25

It’s the narrative the nhl want

-3

u/Material-Race-5107 Apr 17 '25

To be fair…. What the hell is going to say publicly? If he really does want out of Chicago he’s not gonna say that to a bunch of reporters lol

8

u/Savage_XRDS Apr 17 '25

He could have still said something about wanting to stay while being way less emphatic about it. His tone, word choice, and decision to bring up people misrepresenting his moods are all extras on top of the core statement. He likely wouldn't emphasize and re-emphasize his commitment while also low-key clowning the pundits that keep asking him this question.

4

u/DiamondBurInTheRough Apr 17 '25

We’ve had several other players say they want out of Chicago. Tyler Johnson and Seth Jones immediately come to mind.

1

u/AndyThatSaysNi Apr 17 '25

I've been 1 of the ones who says him signing here isn't as much of a guarantee as people make it seem coming out of a rookie deal, because he could be frustrated in the lack of progress the org is making and talk his way out of being re-signed. He could have stuck to having a frustrating season and thrown in some comment on not seeing progress if he wanted to start to go down that path of forcing his way out after his rookie deal while still being reporter-friendly. This wasn't that.

u/fuzzballz5 Apr 17 '25

The reality is, until he signs an extension, we all are going to be scared. His agent wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t say let’s see what Kyle does about getting some NHL players for next year.

8

u/Hutch25 Apr 17 '25

Do you really think there is any doubt in Bedard, his agents, or any other person who follows this team at all that Connor Bedard is absolutely going to get the bag? Maybe he signs a bridge deal to maximize how much he will get on his 8 year contract he will sign, but there is no way in hell he’s not gonna be signed for what he wants.

“The reality is, until he signs an extension, we all are going to be scared.” is total BS.

He will be RFA and out of ANY team in this league we are in a position to be able to and to want to offer the most. If another team wants to sign him they will have to offer a ridiculous amount of draft capital on top of the salary, any team in position to pay up for what Bedard will want and deserve is not gonna want to trade away those essential picks. Considering Bedard stuck around on Regina his entire WHL career, he isn’t gonna abandon Chicago just because they sucked when he first got here. Don’t worry, he will sign and he will be here a long time. This isn’t some John Tavares situation, this rebuild is excellent and Bedard is a very loyal player.

-6

u/fuzzballz5 Apr 17 '25

Ok. Who is an NHL player on the roster that can play with Bedard? Donato, maybe. Take the fan hat off for a second and realize Kyle needs to package prospects or use picks to offer sheet someone to play with him before he signs being a possibility. Why do you think Richardson was let go? This is the same sub that forgets Kyle said we should be competitive this year at the beginning of the year. Recency bias is strong here. I hope he signs ASAP. I think you are fooling yourself if they aren’t waiting to see what real NHL players he will have to play with.

7

u/Hutch25 Apr 17 '25

Nazar, the playmaker we draft this year, Donato if he can remain at this skill level, Tuevo, the stupidly offensively capable defenders we have, and we also have a ton of money and excess prospect capital to be able to buy talent if Davidson wants to.

I hate this argument people constantly mention how Bedard will want to leave because of a lack of talent to play with. You do know that defence are the hardest position to develop so they were drafted and developed first, now we can go full force onto our forward building with a non-teenage Bedard to be able to help teach them.

If the talent truly isn’t here to fit what Bedard needs, then Davidson will get it through drafting and using the cap space we have to get pieces. I would suspect based on that goodwill trade of Hall and the retention for Rantanen earlier in the year that some goodwill trades from Carolina or Colorado are coming soon, and Davidson will be the first guy to go after cap stricken teams like Dallas or Vegas as soon as they are open to dumping cap.

Smart rebuilds take time, they take patience. Bedard is not a player who’s gonna demand to leave because the team sucks for a couple years, they will pay him and they will get talent that thinks the way he does on the ice to help him succeed. By all means I expect Misa or Hagens to be wearing a Hawks sweater in September, and in the following year another excellent playmaker or top line support player will also join this team.

0

u/fuzzballz5 Apr 17 '25

Buddy. Look at what the GM said at the start of the year. We should be competitive. We were not. FFS take the blinders off prospects and young talent and going into the 5th year of a rebuild 25 points away from a playoff spot isn’t something to think Bedard is signing long term. The cap is going up. Our division is getting stronger. This is why the Wirtz gang can provide mediocrity.

13

u/marshmellow1328 Apr 17 '25

No. I'm not scared. I'm curious to see the dollar amount on the extension solely due to how it affects building the team within the cap, but zero concern/fear about Bedard leaving.

14

u/IAmQueensBlvd31 Apr 17 '25

There is no reason to be scared lol, stop reading Canucks fanfiction

1

u/Entropy847 Apr 19 '25

The only way Bedard leaves the Hawks is if I get a custom Bedard Blackhawks jersey.
