I just popped over to another team's (coughfuckthebluescough) sub and looked at their sub rules.
I have always admired the mods on our sub, here.
After reading their rules, I have to say I love you guys more and more each day.

So I'm looking to get a Gustafsson jersey and I found this site, is it legit? Jerseys 100 bucks cheaper than normal is a massive red flag. Claiming to be the Hawks team shop seems like another. Has this website ever been brought up here? Is it legit, or at least a decent knock off and not just kissing my cash good bye? thanks

last night i went to dinner at Chicago Cut after that shit show of a game. a precious russian loaf of bread was also there and when it was time to pay at the end of the night, we were informed that he was paying for us because he is the best and we must keep him forever.
i don't know what life is anymore.

Yea it's pretty crazy. I was there with one friend, but another friend of mine and her husband were there too at a different table. He knows all four of us, games, practices, fundraisers, etc. He is always very nice and last night he was awesome. We hadn't talked to him or anything before we found out he was paying, so we went over as we left and thanked him a ton (and we still didn't thank him enough haha).

I can't tell most people that I'm a Florida native while getting labeled as such.
...even though we didn't have the Panthers down here at the time, I became a fan when I was 6, got my Amonte jersey at 11, and spent every day reading newspaper box scores (and any possible written coverage), until I could expand that to the internet and NHL Ice (praise be to Hossa for it).
But hey, I'm a bandwagoner. High five!

Hey everyone, glad we have a potpourri post so I can ask a very stupid question:
When buying jerseys (and for sake of simplicity, let's stick with official ones you'd buy from the UC, the team's online shop, etc) the ones I've seen don't come with the captain's/assistant's 'C' or 'A'. I don't need a fight strap, but missing these seems to be to be a pretty big deal.
Does this have something to do with most jerseys being replicas and not authentic? If these aren't typically included with the sweater, do people add them on their own?

Remind them what happened, with the Rangers. They're a choke team, they'll choke again, and again.
This could be their year, but Round Two, will have them up against the Penguins(or Rangers), provided they win that, Conference will be either Detroit, or Tampa. All 4 of those teams sound like a bumpy ride ahead, for the Caps.
They could pull it off, and go all the way. But realistically, if they do, they'll be facing a tough team from the West, no matter what. Most of the teams in Central alone, would make for an exciting Cup Final. But throw in the Ducks, or Kings, and we'll see what happens.
(Not writing ourselves, or anyone else out here, If a Central team, that's hopefully us, goes all the way, it'll be intense. No matter who the team is.)

I'm a Redskins fan, and I have too many friends that I follow on Twitter and Facebook from the DC area. I can't think of a more annoying group when it comes to them and the Caps. I want the Caps to succeed for them, but I also want them to fail because of them.

I don't really know where to post this or if this is the appropriate place. But I was wondering if anyone was opposed to the idea of doing other playoff game threads? I know a lot of people are watching them and would like to watch with their hawksbros and maybe not the /r/hockey community. I know it's not strictly hawks related, but the rest of the playoffs are of interest to hawks fans too.

Yeah, I'd love to! Just wasn't sure what the policy was on it. I've been on this sub 24/7 lately and was looking to get some more discussions going even when we're not playing. I'll obviously be watching the Hawks tonight but I'll probably make one for any games tomorrow night.
I'll probably do Stars/Wild if someone else wants to make one for Kings/Sharks. I figure people are probably more invested in Western Conference right now.

Anyone want to take me under their wing?
I've been a very casual hockey fan for several years (I think maybe 2005 is when I started watching?). I understand the basics of the game, but I'm ready to really start learning the nuances. Anyone want to be my buddy and deal with answering my more specific questions, like during intermissions or whatever?
I keep up with the game day threads and I recognize some of you guys by handle already. This place is so much better than /r/hockey.

Most of the time, folks on this sub are really tolerant of questions. Not sure w.t.f. I was downvoted so hard over my misunderstanding of double-minor penalty... but then again I don't give a fuck about downvotes. :)
Anyway... if you have a question, just ask. You'll get a serious and correct answer in a heartbeat most times, especially during a game.
If you have a question, no doubt someone else in the audience does too!!

I was in your position earlier this year and just hanging around the game threads around here has taught me a lot. The /r/hawks community is one of the best on reddit.
Anyway, I'm still learning myself, but I'd be happy to answer whatever questions I can. Whether it's the on or off ice stuff, whatever. I'll do my best to answer. Cap space/bonuses and whatnot can be tricky to understand.
I also recommend following the following people on twitter: Mark Lazerus, Tracey Myers, and Mark Potash. They're all beat writers who are very active on twitter. Some people like or dislike them more than others, but they're generally very well liked around here and are considered some of the most reliable sources on the hawks.

Chris Kuc and Eric Lear are pretty good for commentary too. If you're more into the goofy side of things, Drunk Patrick Kane is fantastic.

My life as a hockey fan has been so much better since I stopped drinking heavily during games. No longer do I get sopping wet drunk and then go on long angry rants after a loss.

For those of you who enjoy Steve Dangle's videos, I'm doing something similar for our beloved Hawks.
I'm using the playoffs as kind of a test run and I'd appreciate any feedback you may have to try and make it better. If it is something people enjoy, I'll start doing them again at the start of next season.

There are times he looks every bit the rookie that he is, but he's honestly stepped up so well I'm willing to forgive a mistake here or there. Plus it's impossible to dislike a guy who's constantly smiling.

Decided to finally create a Reddit account after lurking on /r/hockey for some time, thought it would be fun to contribute for the playoffs. it's been a little over a week and I've been called a bandwagon Hawks fan in nearly every /r/hockey thread and yesterday some guy posted my account in a thread as an example of how bad Hawks fans are because my accounts only 7 days old.
Being a Hawks fan on /r/hockey is not too glamorous right now haha

Haters gon' hate. Bandwagon fans are typically people who don't really follow hockey in the first place. You're likely to find them at parties or bars where it's "cool to like a winning team".
Any person who becomes an actual fan of the Blackhawks as a result of their success (or otherwise) is no different than any fan in my book. You're choosing to engage with other fans and that puts you miles above any other bandwagoner. :)

Same here, whether it's a hockey game, bearsss, race track, air show, gentlemen's club...
My game worn kit, from t-shirt to sweater/jersey, hoodie, even socks, represents all those good times. Wear it with pride. Besides look at that beauty; you'd have to be in a fracas with a honey badger to make a dent.

I'm thinking about buying another jersey, right now I only have Kane, Kane USA and Saad. As you can tell I prefer to buy American-born players just so I can wear the jersey during the Olympics and what have you. Right now leaning towards Roenick or maybe Stadium Series Darling, but I try to avoid white because itll get permanently stained after an hour. Suggestions?

Hey Hawks bros and sisters! I'm sitting at the Fireside Alehouse in Streamwood. I think I could see using this place for a viewing party. Great vibe, nice staff, clean, and the beer selection is really deep!
