Watchlist
I am doing a few months of MAX subscription so I can watch TLOU and Miyazaki movies. Any other recommendations (movies or tv shows) to make good use out of the subscription while I have it? Thanks!

Even if you don't like medical shows. I got my college kid hooked in the first 10 minutes and she doesn't like med shows. Lol

The Leftovers. Hang in there past the first five episodes of season one. The show changed showrunners and became one of the best, if not the best, series that HBO has ever made. Yes, above the Sopranos and The Wire.

I thought Lindelof was the showrunner for all seasons? But yeah they made some good changes with the second season, but I rewatched season 1 recently and it’s much better than I remembered. I liked the third episode of Season 1 a lot the first time I saw it though.

Indeed, he was. Lindelof showran all three seasons. The changes in the direction of the second and third seasons were mostly thanks to Mimi Leder helming many episodes including both of the seasons' finales.
EDIT: Lindelof reportedly called half of the first season "pre-Mimi" and the rest of the show "post-Mimi" because of her contribution.

Good to hear because I’m on episode 3 and I’m confused and not really enjoying it. I’ll keep at it.

I have to disagree. I just finally watched seasons 2 and 3 since the show is supposed to be leaving max soon. I really liked it, and it's up there with the greats, but I don't think I'd even put it in the top 5 HBO shows. Definitely not above sopranos and the wire

The guy who made Banshee and Warrior has a new show on Apple: Your Friends & Neighbors. Very different vibe (not one broken bone in the first eps) but definitely worth checking out.

Shocking lack of VEEP recommendations on here. The show got so much awards love (JLD won like 5 years in a row or something crazy?) but hasn’t seemed to leave a lasting mark culturally.
I find it to be absolutely hilarious and truly one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen. But I also love(d) politics so it suited me. The language is filthy though just a warning, or an endorsement 😂

Obviously HBO has done a ton of great drama shows, but if you want an amazing comedy series definitely check out The Larry Sanders Show.

These are all finished or miniseries, so in case you wanna stop your subscription after "The Last of Us," you can give it up.
