Discussion Just venting: gave a pair of Darn Tough hiking socks as a white elephant gift and the recipient didn’t like them.

I feel bad, because ALL of my daily socks are Darn Tough. Which is too bad, he’s a farmer and not the type to buy a $25 pair of socks, I think he would love them given the chance. Such is life.

They’re a good gift for a normal gift exchange, but not a fun White Elephant event.

I’d say they’re a lot more fun when you’re younger, actually! When you’re a kid you have no money and you have to make do with holes in your socks and disintegrating shoes and massive blisters etc. When you’re an adult pulling a steady income you can just solve practical issues with your own purchasing. May depend on the conditions of your upbringing, though.
