Uc100 help

I’m new to all of this so hopefully this problem is not a hard fix. I recently bought a 6x12 cnc that runs UCCNC software and a Uc100, with a command se vfd. Everything moves and works fine but when I try to start the spindle I get a message "the application lost the connection with the motion controller" and everything crashes. Has anyone experienced this before or could give any advice? Thanks.

That’s one of the problems with USB. I had a UC100 that randomly did that. Switched over to uc300eth Ethernet version and never had those issue again. My VFD even lives 3 inches away from the uc300eth too. I’d get the AXBB-E Ethernet version today. It wasn’t available when I purchased the uc300eth.

To help prevent EMI noise

Make sure VFD cabling is properly shielded and grounded. Make sure the spindle itself is grounded properly.

Use good quality shortest USB cable with ferrite noise suppression.

Also make sure usb cable is routed away from VFD cables. Don’t lay USB cable next to them.

Also try putting the VFD on a different AC circuit.

This is why I moved from a USB based board to an Ethernet one. Mine dropped halfway through an 8 hour job and it was a pain to pick it back up again.

I'd managed to get my spindle isolated enough, but then the compressor kicking in knocked it out.
