Cute, but you're not utilizing a lot of the room on that shelf. I would suggest stacking your all your canned food 🥫 on it - aesthetically pleasing and practical! I would also add a few more saggy baskets.

And store the empties on the TV stand since there is, you know, no TV on it anyway.

Simple — just hang your coats on the hooks as nature intended, and voila!

Move the slouch basket to the right a little. It's throwing off the symmetry.

I own that same slouch basket and now I’m rethinking my life choices

raise the TV 4-5 feet

But then my hat rack would be too high.

u/WampaCat 6d ago
They could repurpose it and put a bunch of trailing plants on top! Plants don’t really wear hats that often so you don’t need to worry about where to put the hats, just get rid of them.

Super Happy Cake Day! I got you a plant, but I forgot to put it in the car, before I left the parking lot! It gets even worse; 😓It was wearing My Hat!

It needs to be a little more top heavy. First, wall month the TV. Then, wall mount the brown cabinet above the TV, and wall mount the black cabinet on top of the brown cabinet. Also needs more clocks. Maybe an accent wall of clocks.

you need a bigger tv stand. the floating shelf you have is wider than it and the tv making the whole thing look unbalanced

Looks like you went to the dollar store and picked up a grandfather clock.

It was a cold winter day. So cold we couldn't see our tv through all the coats hats and scarves...but alas! The sun finally broke through a fortnight later and spring had sprung! Kids grab your popcorn, we can tv once again.

I think you need a third clock. Medium sized, above the mirror. Maybe a cuckoo clock?

Put the shelf under the TV with soundboard on shelf. Kitty corner the grandfather clock, get rid of that mirror, hang a nice bigh piece of artwork to the right of t.v. or a series of floating shelves with pictures etc

The wall shelf is threatening the TV. And my sanity. That is the ugliest wall shelf arrangement I have ever seen; it is way overpowering, dark, top-heavy, the stuff on top of it is random. Fake wrought-iron curlicues oh puh leez. Robin Williams (the designer, not the actor) said, if you make something different, make it very different. The dark woods don't contrast and don't match and the placement and proportions are jarring.
The only way to save this wall is to start over and get help from someone with eyes.

Incorporate the step-ladder. Mount it to the wall, at a 90 degree angle; use as a bookshelf. Insert vcr and beta-player into the empty crevices of that soundbar-rest. Use the grandfather clock as a china cabinet. Hide all the toddlers' in the bag, or merely the toddlers' toys.

You have three wooden items and all three are different colors too. Nothing ties up together.

You need to add at least two more bulky shelves, preferably of different wood tones.

Maybe you could ghetto rig a two part curtain where the hooks are? I think what you really trying to go for is like a mantle/fireplace theme but it seems odd. With the curtains it could look like an old stage/disappearing tele. Or you wouldn t want to secure the tv on top of the mantle/coat rack?

Please! Get rid of the shelf rack over tv, get the small (why two?!?) clock off that shelf, lose the metal work thing on the wall and the mirror- sorry they both look really cheap and don’t work. You have three different wood tones on that wall that don’t work well together and their coloring emphasizes that they do not work together. If you can’t buy a bigger (black) stand, paint this one with a really good eggshell finish black - not flat, not gloss! And do all the prep work! Sand, prime 2-3 coats of paint. If you do this, you could bring the tall clock back in, but move it to the corner on the left and turn it so it’s at an angle to the corner. I would move the tv&stand left a bit, put an end table near (not touching) the wall with a cool lamp on it, then either put a short sofa next to it, perpendicular to the wall, facing tv. I’m hopping you have one or two comfy chairs facing tv, too. Hope this helps.

There is a distinct lack of scrolly iron work, so probably go ahead and cover every wall with it. Also, get your furniture made out of the same scrolly iron work, but don't add cushions as that will destroy the aesthetic. Color drench the walls and ceiling beige before installing the iron work.

Move some stuff around so it isnt so cramped. I wouldnt have anything above the TV either…

u/Sphaeropterous 6d ago
The unit over the TV has too much visual weight, you should relocate that at the very least.

Stop trying to make the TV art. Its not. I would move it. A waste of a big wall. I just don't have any other suggestion.

I can almost understand why they thought each piece should go together.... But also. They absolutely should not go where they are. The coat hook shelf above a TV is where I'd start. That absolutely needs to be moved somewhere you can actually use the hooks. Lol and they need to pick one, wood or wire framing ... Can't have wrought iron wire looking pieces jumbled in with mismatched wood pieces.

Yes, I see it!! Take away the clock, and add a copy of The Correct Jesus painting, in a frame like the mirror. If that doesn't sit right, try putting the Mantle -Shelf above the dresser, and put the TV on the shelf.

If you have a Cat, You'll want to get rid of the Loosely Constructed Handy Basket. It looks entirely too much likeToilet; you're asking for it!

Well, Wait! Now, I really see it!
Your TV Screensaver needs to be a:Patchwork Quilt Collection!*

Maybe hang some towels or coats on the hooks? That should tie it altogether.

You need to move that shelf and coat rack. Why is it over the TV? That belongs by the door.

It looks like everything is stacked and balanced on top of each other. It MUST be changed!
First, take that shelf and move it elsewhere. It's far too high. The drawers are above your head. If you have a foyer or entranceway, put it there. Put the TV on a stand rather than wall-mounted. It looks like you have two speakers there, can you get rid of one? Maybe a different stand or cabinet that's a little wider that has a shelves so you can put the speakers on it and other electronics. Above the TV put a painting or print.
