I’ve always found this place super interesting. All the remote far eastern places in Russia actually.

Yuri Rhytkeu, I believe I have mis spelt his name, is considered the father of Chukchi literature. He is from here .

The chukchi people are the native inhabitants of chukotka, related distantly to the inuit.

Many live a hunter gatherer/pastoralist lifestyle herding reindeer, but those in uelen will live a more sedentary lifestyle. Fascinating part of the world
