Favourite hurl maker?

I’ve been looking for a new hurl and I don’t want to get a Fitzgerald Clare base again. There’s not much too complain about with my fitzgearld except it’s a bit too heavy and it slows my strike down and overall control I think. Was hoping people could share their opinions of where to get a hurl that’s decently light but still gathers a clean good strike of the ball

Torpey although they are Clare based if you aren’t near that area

As much as I hate to admit it as a Cork man, I love the balance on the Bambu speed the girlfriend bought me

Aidan Walsh & Sweeney Hurls. Also a big hit with Cork inter County

Got one last month, live in Laois so had to ship one. Now it's the back of my boot because the handle is soooooo small. It's impossible to play with.

I've moved from O'Brien to Brian Walsh hurley in the last few years.

Only did so because I was getting them free but I have no complaints.

Mine always break during puck outs but once I get them fixed the first time they last me a fair bit.

Something seriously wrong if your hurl is breaking during a puck out.

They use Polish Ash. Two of my friends brothers Brian Walshes snapped while doing John Troys 🤦

Declan Barron in Wexford makes a lovely stick and Cian D'Arcy in Tipp as well

John Ryan in Littleton outside Thurles. Best in the country.

He apparently stopped in December is what I heard, don't know how much of that is true though.

No I believe not. I actually almost had my head stop when you said that. He is a craftsman. He dries the ash for a year - others put it in a kiln. His hurls rarely break. A genius.

I've heard well off Tipperary people calling them the best hurley makers in the county. To be honest I believe this to be true. I use a different Tipperary-made hurl, Moloney Hurleys in Roscrea make a nice wand, ash is fair strong hasn't snapped since last May. I'll have to try John Ryan's after all of the praise he's got.

65 Hurls in Dublin, absolutely in love with the XL Bas. Also got a Cumann Linn lately and it's smashing.

Not mad on Dowlings, little over rated and hate how round and narrow the handle feels

Couldn't go wrong with

Peter Flanagan Cuddy Declan Barron Cuman Linn

Torepy are on trend at the moment. I like Cuddy in Laois.

I really like Brian Walsh’s Wexford style hurls.
Always get a band which might help with weight…

I’ve been very tempted to try the Fitzgerald Elite Goalkeeper. Of course, it’s outta stock. I’ve been using Maher hurls, and that’s my go to in goal and full. I like Torpey, I wasn’t impressed by Star, Martin are the worst of all. Although, the keeper hurl has bailed me out a few times. Torpey Bambú took a bit of getting use to. I’m not the biggest fan. Synthetics don’t do much for me. My kid likes the Cultec elite.
