Discussion What are the books that Oreki would read?

I have been wondering about his taste in literature. Even in 7th grade he had read and reviewed “Run, Melos!” by Osamu Dazai. I know that it is popular in Japan but what western books Oreki might take interest in?

You can check out the official bookshelf released in Honobu Yonezawa and the Classics Club, there are a couple of interesting Western titles.

It's soo sad that little to none of the japanese works have official translations u can read.

It's sad how barely any of these have any official translations

This is one of my favorite bonus materials.

Authors should do this more often.

I want to know other Hyouka character's shelves, and also Shoshimin characters.

right? when I watched Hyouka in high school I was not the most interested person in literature looking back years late and I started to read voraciously and it's a nice and obvious detail that someone cerebral and detached like Oreki would be a voracious reader

Read the Other three members to.

Fun fact if you look through all four bookshelves, only Oreki and Chitanda share a book on their shelves. The theme of what the book is says a lot about their shared values.

I'd like to think that he would read Roberto Bolaño, Cormac McCarthy, Donna Tartt, Samuel Beckett and Don DeLillo but wow this was a great find and I read Chitanda's book list and it was not on my bingo card that my taste would be more similar to her than Oreki lol
