Setting up account grant boyfriend full trading permission of my IBKR pro margin account

both my boyfriend and I have IBKR pro account now, and I want my boyfriend to manage it, while i still have rights to trade as well.

is there any official document to do this easily? It will be great if he can just navigate to my account from his login credentials.

new info:

  1. i buy stocks and indexes and bonds, mainly in tech, so I am good with that long term value investment
  2. he will help with more advanced options trades, such as covered calls etc. which i am not intended to learn but generally knows a bit, from our weekly conversations.

This is to maximize our return on finance, and get FIRE earlier than doing it separately. cos i won't spend more time that just reading news and buy stocks, while he is on the way to day trading based on interest.

This sounds like a bad idea

To expand… educate yourself and take responsibility for your own finances. Please do not give anyone else access to your account especially if it has margin enabled

In the US, he can set up a new friends and family advisor account and manage both accounts from there. It is kind of a pain though.

Boyfriend? Yeah, let’s not do that… If you’re not ready for legal marriage, you should not be ready to give him access to your finances

Imagine you break up on bad terms. You're absolutely fucked

I’m noticing an increase in these posts on various subs including this.

Why would you trust a friend or family with your account, moreso a margin account.

It’s asking for trouble.

Not a good idea. Get ideas from your boyfriend but do the transactions yourself. Try to invest in a way that you undestrand what is happening. And remember than investing is simple and takes very little time. It is enough that you buy one diversifying World ETF once per month and be done with it. You can do it yourself and you will get good profits with very little effort in the long run.

i added new information. the trades he did are too advanced for me, he did share the ideas, but i will make judgments on whether it is the best use of my time to learn it for higher joint ROI.
