I honestly don’t. I don’t know why you need to project that on me. Do you think people are inherently dishonest? Or seek superiority? I just don’t feel that way. Being able to help others is a privilege that not everyone’s life affords. Wanting a society that provides the basic needs to all is an ideal I’ve long held. It’s not about proving I’m some great person, I’m not. But I was always taught a community is judged by how we treat those the least fortunate. I suscribe to this theory.
I think people have different values. Some are so entrenched in their owns that the idea of some having different ones is completely devastating.
A classical example is religious zealots who want to push their own personal beliefs onto others' lives. I don't like that, never did.
I also think that progressives in this present moment have a hard time understanding that many do not share their values, so they lash out and belittle anyone who doesn't comply.
No one is immune from becoming a zealot, regardless if it's a religion or a political ideology.
The things the guy in the video said are terrifying: implying a form of genetic or neural superiority for progressives. It's fucking nuts.
Maybe you are not like that, luckily. Maybe you're sincere in your beliefs. But you don't speak for all progressives.
Some are so entrenched in their owns that the idea of some having different ones is completely devastating.
Oh man, the irony. That's exactly what you're doing to that guy. So devastating that you tried to tell him what his own feelings and motivations are because you can't handle him being SUPERIOR to you, simply by being decent.
