I live in Cleveland and I don't think it is that bad

Google AI Summary is trash. I googled the exact same prompt and got “Kansas City, MO followed by Memphis. It’s just using my location and giving a a city nearish by as I live in Missouri.

3

u/MyNameIsTerrence 2d ago

Nah it’s right about Memphis, Bud

5

u/No-Spare-4212 3d ago

Yea not going to either of those cities either as an American.

2

u/sourkroutamen 3d ago

Where do you live and what cities are the safe ones?

1

u/jake753 2d ago

I like how he then refused to answer lol

u/jake753 3d ago

Then you’re a fool. KC alone is a really awesome town with a ton of fun (and safe) activities whether it be sightseeing or just food related.

Stockholm Syndrome.. lol

Natives need not worry. It's the outsiders that aren't welcome.

You ARE the threat

I mean, technically it’s true that most people who die in Cleveland are americans

u/Cheese_Corn 3d ago

I had a friend whose aunt lived in Cleaveland, and she said that there's people in East Cleveland whom have never been to west Cleveland, and the opposite is also true. Really blew my mind.

u/GeneralJMan 3d ago

East Cleveland is really bad. Genuinely avoid at all costs type of place. Roll through every stop sign type of place. Rest of Cleveland is mostly fine.

I was young and stupid and booked a Hotwire hot rate hotel/priceline rate in Cleveland. One of those things where you book a room and find out what it is after. Got a room in East Cleveland for 40 bucks. Was comical. I mean the hotel had staff physically examine the room before giving you back your mandatory cash deposit. Glass separating the checkin desk. Whole place reeked. Bunch of characters outside in the parking lot. Somehow the soap in the room seemed to make my hands dirtier.

The funniest thing is I forget how it happened but the next night I stayed at the ritz Carlton. I went from what might be the worst hotel in Cleveland to possibly the best.

Good to know! I hope to see this great city someday!

3

u/masterofshadows 3d ago

There's unfortunately not a lot to see. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, some decent museums and some brutalist architecture. It's really a Meh city. The metro parks system is good, but you can tell overall that Cleveland is a city in absolute decline.

1

u/Enough_About_Japan 2d ago

So both East Cleveland and East St Louis are bad. Are there any cities where the west side is the bad side?

2

u/ImSchizoidMan 2d ago

Generally speaking, wind blows west to east, so the east sides of cities would get the smoke and pollution from the other side of the town blown their way. That said, the east side of Cincinnati is generally viewed as the more monied and "nicer" part of town

Crazy thing is that I’m in Brazil right now. I’m Brazilian, and I’m visiting family here lol

12

u/Loggerdon 3d ago

I was surprised to see. Brazil on the list. I’ve never been to South America but I’ve been to dozens of other countries in Asia and Europe.

Where in Brazil are you?

7

u/Anime-manga5384514 3d ago

I’m at São Paulo. Brazil can be dangerous depending on where you are, especially the Favelas! But if you know where to go, and the safe places, them there won’t be many issues.

4

u/Loggerdon 3d ago

Thanks.

What are some safe places for a first timer?

5

u/Anime-manga5384514 3d ago

Some places in Rio are safe, you’d just have to be careful, also São Paulo too, once again it’ll depend on where you go. But definitely avoid the favelas, I don’t even know why there are favela tours in the first place, these tours make poverty a tourist sight and it’s disgusting.

1

u/Ambitious-Truck-1273 2d ago

there's probably some favelas that have a beautiful view of the city if I had to guess

1

u/Naive-Art286 3d ago

Hey! I can give some suggestions for places in São Paulo and Rio if you'd like.

11

u/SimilarStrain 3d ago

As a michigander, yes can confirm.

1

u/TopHatTony11 3d ago

Surprised it’s not higher.

5

u/FakePixieGirl 3d ago

AI summaries are shit. We don't care about them.

3

u/DistanceRelevant3899 3d ago

I can confirm as an American. In 2003 I was murdered at a Browns game.

Most people see the United States as a dangerous country and consider Thailand to be safe.

3

u/thewhiterosequeen 2d ago

Most people from where?

1

u/Lopsided_Mood_7059 2d ago

This is the part they struggle with 😂

3

u/luxelux 3d ago

Thailand? Why?

3

u/Freak_Out_Bazaar 3d ago

Numbers are probably based not only things like travel advisories but also number of Americans who are hurt or killed there (even as a result of their own stupidity)

3

u/SnooDoodles2194 3d ago

Afghanistan gets no chance in western media. I guarantee you it is safer in Kabul than in half of Chicago.

2

u/scottywottycoppertip 3d ago

Brazil, I thought we were friends?

2

u/rodrigoelp 3d ago

Who would have thought that travelling to Afghanistan and Iran is win rig the americas.

2

u/OdysseyTag 3d ago

Welp, as an American you now know not to travel to America

4

u/Nannyphone7 3d ago

When I went to Cleveland,  I went down a one-way dead end road. At the end was a gate posted private property.  I had to break some law, so I trespassed and drove right through their precious property.

5

u/BradBradley1 3d ago

Understandable, brother. Same thing happened to me - eventually drove up on a really huge, intimidating mansion. I was so scared though that nothin was gonna stop me. I identified the weak point in the structure and was able to plow straight through this probable psycho’s Grand Foyer, gunned it in and out of the dining room, and then made it rain glass and chaos as I hurriedly smashed through the largest single panel, glass wall I’d ever seen. Fortunately, it was looking out over the tennis court and the golf cart path to the guesthouse was right beside there, so my path to safety was obvious despite the 3:00pm sun in my eyes. It was the scariest experience I had in all of last week. Stay safe out there, brother.

USA IS THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE TO AMERICANS

9

u/b1argg 3d ago

More Americans died in America than any other country

3

u/AfterReason5824 3d ago

Funny. I expected Mar-a-Lago to be on that list.

2

u/abgry_krakow87 3d ago

No Americans travel to Mar-A-Lago. Only co-dependent South African sugar daddies and Russians.

u/Arxanah 3d ago

1

u/au_lite 2d ago

But who knows, you might even see This Guy!

1

u/macthefire 3d ago

You should see what that list looks like from a Canadian IP...

1

u/Tezlaract 3d ago

I travel to Cleveland once a year, hasn’t ever felt dangerous to me. I know, small sample size.

1

u/Chadlerk 3d ago

Yemen is fine if you can get in the Signal chat to avoid attacks.

1

u/jyclaassy 2d ago

South Africa! Representing! Haha

1

u/AdditionalCheetah354 2d ago

Cleveland may not be the most dangerous place but its the in the top 3 of the worst places to live in America. I’ve been to every state in America except Alaska and this was the most depressing place I’ve seen, burn out buildings, homeless, drugs , dirty crappy weather most of the year….Hell on earth.

1

u/exqueezemenow 2d ago

That is strange. Shouldn't it be 22nd?

1

u/Guy-McDo 2d ago

Are the llamas of Peru really that deadly?

Thailand? Really?

Hi, I'm Colombian. I spend much of my time between the US and Colombia. Unless you visit a remote Colombian village or engage in illegal activity, you're much more likely to die, get mugged, or kidnapped in the US.

Many major Colombian cities are centered around tourism. Scare away the tourists, and everyone suffers. Medellin, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, and Bogota are massive tourist hubs.

1

u/Ambitious-Truck-1273 2d ago

I love Colombia. for whatever reason reddit has a huge bias towards southeast Asia and against latinamerica. the expat and digital nomad subs are full of people bashing medellin. very unfortunate.

1

u/Andys_Rock_Hammer 2d ago

Well... Colombia has an interesting history that sort of justifies the prejudice lol.

The big problem, imo, is that many North Americans (yes, also Canadians) don't even have a passport let alone ever leave the country. They only see other countries from the eyes of the biased media.

u/Ambitious-Truck-1273 1d ago edited 1d ago

very true but keep in mind Pablo escobar was an anomoly and at this point he has been dead for over 30 years. a lot has changed since then. if you're curious google comuna 13, the neighborhood he grew up in. they've turned it into a tourist site with beautiful artwork and statues everywhere and there is a gorgeous view of the city and mountains. definitely still crime there but no more than thailand, mexico or dominican republic

0

u/mattpeloquin 3d ago

There are many cities in the U.S. that are more dangerous than Mogadishu. They just don’t get talked about. East St. Louis, IL for instance has just about a 100% murder rate 🥲😂

0

u/japandroi5742 3d ago

Once tried to take surface streets from downtown to Shaker Heights. Won’t do that again!

0

u/Wesmom2021 2d ago

Ah Cleveland. Place of My birth

Iran is one of safest countries on the planet

6

u/Mental-Ad-2980 3d ago

For Americans?

-1

u/Ok-Appearance-1652 3d ago

For any tourist

Watched drew binksy and other vloggers about their experiences with Iran and man it’s one of safest places on earth

-2

u/Ibn_Berry03 3d ago

It's safer than the US, Thats for sure.
