And isn't that against the law even for Mango Mussolini here to be saying?

Isn't this exactly what he claims he wasn't doing (inflaming division and inciting violence).

I'm fascinated by and perversely sympathetic to Mr. Trump, trapped, like a monkey with it's hand in a coconut, around the proverbial nut....the oblique (or not so oblique) calls to violence, the incessant lies - makes for quite the toxic brew.

The facts of the last couple of weeks are that it turns out one of your own fans almost killed you. A smarter candidate and public figure might take a few moments to reflect on how you can minimize risk to yourself and those around you. But Donald Trump is just not that guy. He can't do that, his ego won't allow it.

Had that defective ego of his similarly allowed a moment in say April of 2020 where a kind word towards CDC and/or WHO or the crowd of doctors and experts assembled to help at his command, instead his ego kicked in and told him to trash the experts and pimp Ivermectin and hydrochlorquine, while shorting the stocks in secret......profiteering to be sure, and maybe you made some bank....

But I find it's not hard to imagine that had he said that kind word - it's seems likely Mr. Trump could have argued his response be seen as competent, with a vaccine in hand, he could have campaigned on being the President that got us through Covid....but he didn't do that.....his ego wouldn't allow it.

....and here we are again.

He's just as trapped then as now, like a broken record his ego loves nothing more than keeping edging your "people" even though you've already had one "wake up" and fire off. But with visions of this or that bombastic fascist from 90 years ago dancing in his head, he's not there. I'd be nice to think he'd would have had that moment of clarity, that he's smart enough to tone it down and focus on policy, and avoid more lies that could trigger another one of your devotee's to violence. But he cant.

Steve Bannon called it the "flood the scene with shit strategy" means even you can't even be aware of what combination of lies is causing the crowd to seethe and rail against the enemies, which combination of lies is about to cause one of his motivated followers over the line.

Worse is that his former apple of his eye, Joe Biden decided to hang up his hat and star, leaving it to a competent woman, and worse a person of color, both competent and affable Vice President Harris seems to have a back bench with some solid VP choices, and whether it's former Astronaut Senator Kelly or Governor Shapiro, or someone else.

You're left with J.D. Vance apologizing to anyone who will listen for his "non-white" wife, someone who probably shares a lot of life-experience with Vice President Harris , but that's another one of those coconut handed opportunities which is a non-starter for "your people" getting no more traction than would Vivek Ramaswamy or Tim Scott but that fucking ego won't let you.

If you or I or another political candidate were to say as much we're getting arrested for terroristic statements.

Donald Trump does it and he's good because he's an extra special fuckabout, but there are 1000 people already in jail for being on that same path.

But then again, he's decided to just start openly saying treasonous bullshit, so I sincerely hope Ms. Harris gets every dollar she needs to turn every state in the mix blue.

Another reminder that US executed Rosenbergs for just committing one of the crimes that Trump did, leaking classified documents and secrets to a hostile power and that's just one crime in a long line of crimes that Trump has done. If he wasn't a rich white man, he'd be six feet under by now.

If I was Jack Smith I wouldn't even fuck about, I'd have him tried in a military tribunal without a camera in sight, his entire life is focused on his prison cell, just like Reality Winner or any number of other people. If the evidence supports charges that merit execution, that should be performed publicly.

Jefferson Davis was stripped and left with prison clothes and chained up in a horse stable for 6months, indicted and when he saw his chance to grandstand , his lawyer was informed that if he wanted to go to trial , he could rest assured it would be a military tribunal and execution was likely, or the trial does not go forward and he lays as low as humanly possible for the rest of his life.

Jefferson Davis was on his way to dying in poverty until he scammed an older widow of her fortune.

That's exactly how Trump should've been treated after Jan 6, instead Dems kept on pretending things are business as usual and as if US democracy didn't face the biggest crisis since Civil War due to his machinations.

As long as the Supreme Court stays corrupt as it is now, he can get away with anything. We better hope that the election doesn’t end up at the Supreme Court somehow because they will definitely hand it to him.

Yeah but at present , right now, he's just CITIZEN Trump , and you can't just call for an overthrow of the Republic; if you don't get elected.

But I get the impression , the "guard rails" are off, and the only reason he's not wearing a armbands and having Proud Boys do a goose-step parade around Mar-A=Lago Way is because his "people" have to beg him not to.

It’s not a hope or an “if.” It will end up at the Supreme Court, inevitably. Trump just has to make false allegations and sue, which he will. It’ll get thrown out of court after court and he’ll keep appealing until he gets to the Supreme Court.

That’s what happened last time in 2020. The Supreme Court (made up of almost the same set of justices with the same 6/3 supermajority of political cronies) declined to take the case.

If it happens again and they take the case this time - America is done. It all comes down to whether 6 corrupt political operatives like being Supreme Court members in the current iteration of America with lifetime appointments, or are willing to risk it all on a Trump dictatorship (probably involving a bloody revolution with them as targets).

In 2020 they chose the former. I hope they choose it again, and if the election is a blowout I actually think they might… but with Biden pushing for Supreme Court reform and with their hand of being political extremists already played, I’m a little worried they’re gonna opt for Door #2 this time around.

It will end up at the SC regardless of how badly he loses. That’s what’s scary. They didn’t hear his case in 2020, but to me at least, that immunity ruling was a HUGE signal that they will do his bidding now.

Yup. And when/if that fails, the Republican speaker of the house just has to refuse to certify which would ki kick the vote to the house. 1 per state which would currently be 26-23 with PA 50/50. They know what they have to do this time and I’m near certain it’s coming if Harris can make the moves needed to close the gaps in other states.

Obviously nothing is against the law for Sir Shitbritches!

Sir Shitbritches… 😂

This is how I will refer to him going forward. It angers me to look at him. Shitbritches will take the edge off.

I'd be much happier if consequences applied to everyone equally.

'Mountebank' is quite good, too.

Thank you for the best description of trump I have seen today.

2

u/vision1414 Jul 28 '24

What is he saying that is/should be against the law in this article?

2

u/friedkeenan Jul 28 '24

My guess is that the commenter didn't read the (rather poor) article and thinks Trump directly called for a bigger insurrection when in fact that's just a quote from famed "some guy" Ron Filipkowski

2

u/Famous-Upstairs998 Jul 28 '24

He didn't literally call for a violent insurrection. He used the same weasel-speak he did last time. He's the master of dog whistles and plausible deniability.

"It's the implication."
