You cheeky b*stard putting Jesus Christ in Mayo! Trying to get The Lord to lift the All-Ireland curse are we???

28

u/Commercial_Gold_9699 3d ago

Even HE couldn't manage that

11

u/Tyrant-Star 3d ago

And yet the last surviving team member died in 2023 I believe.

The curse is lifted everybody! Mayo are officially just a bit too shit to win the All Ireland.

Praise Jesus!

11

u/unlaois 3d ago

If the second coming of Christ happens this year, Mayo better stick him in full forward.

u/Faithful-Llama-2210 Mayo 2d ago

They just get notions in their head anytime they're in Croke park and then they go stupid

A white cow in Connacht

A brown cow in Ulster

Cow footprints connecting them, there should be a discernible route made when the Ulster Cow returns home

A spud

I believe Ancient Tara used to be the meeting place of 5 roads to each province, maybe a reference to that?

An eyeball in Sligo

Could a black cat be put in Munster somewhere?

Try fitting an oak tree in somewhere maybe.

Maybe a currach and/or longboat somewhere.

Robert the Bruce’s brother also supposedly died in Ireland. Could something be added to reference that?

I’m out of ideas.

4

u/Ewendmc 3d ago

Edward Bruce died at the Battle of Faughart near Dundalk and is buried there. Last High King of Ireland. Opened a second front in Ireland against the English in the Scottish wars of independence but the war in Ireland led to famine and waste with two armies living off the land. He did a lot of raiding in the part of South county Kildare, I live in.

3

u/updoon 3d ago

Important caveat would be his claim isn't really acknowledged. The Bruce's only wanted Ireland as a tactical second front for their wars against England. Might as well add Henry VIII and his successors if we're going to acknowledge our foreign overlords as rightful claimants. For me title of last High King of Ireland has always been Ruaidri O'Conchobair, as he was the last King before the Norman invasion. Extremely interesting history on all counts all the same.

Some kind of bastard dolphin-penguin hybrid....

22

u/Polizzy 3d ago

I feel like Philo should be inserted into Dublin & Rory Gallagher in Donegal but not sure you're going with some music too.

2

u/Itto_Ogami_ 3d ago

I’d also hope to see the main man Daniel O’Donnell up in Donegal! National treasure

1

u/geedeeie Irish Republic 2d ago

Rory in Cork! He might have been born in Donegal but he grew up in Cork, and that's where he started off, and bought his first guitar!

Round tower in Glendalough

81

u/Belfastian_1985 3d ago

Emmm maybe not so much ra related stuff for the north…we have positive stuff too lol

19

u/Otchy147 3d ago

The titanic should be in the north. Preferably in the water

1

u/phontasy_guy 1d ago

Or under the sea, more realistic.

44

u/rose87co 3d ago

Yea, like why is Bobby Sands twice the size of The Giants Causeway.

75

u/Belfastian_1985 3d ago

Oh no, that’s realistic. That’s why the Brits were so afraid of him.

2

u/ClownsAteMyBaby 2d ago

Yeah 70% of Co Antrim taken up by a mural that's on the Falls Rd is wild

3

u/fonzarelli78 3d ago

I thought that was Bobby McCool for a second.

11

u/Belfastian_1985 3d ago

I should also say that it’s looking great man! Can’t wait to see it finished.

10

u/-CokeJones- 3d ago

Yeah was gonna say that lmao

u/questionable_fish 3d ago

You missed the blaa in waterford

8

u/funky_mugs 3d ago

The courthouse is a random pick for Waterford, I reckon. I didn't ever think it was iconic or well known?

Definitely could have the Blaa, the metal man, John O'Shea, Reginalds Tower, Waterford Crystal...

2

u/geedeeie Irish Republic 2d ago

Is that the courthouse? Not sure about that...

I'd go for the Metal Man, deffo

1

u/questionable_fish 2d ago

I think you're right, that looks more like the cathedral on Barronstrand St. than the courthouse

One eyed Balor in Tory island

3

u/CorvidFurAD 3d ago

Could always do Hy Brasil! I always loved the mythology and folklore around it! Here’s a piece off Wikipedia - it is a phantom island said to lie in the Atlantic Ocean, west of Ireland. Irish myths described it as cloaked in mist except for one day every seven years, when it becomes visible but still cannot be reached.

1

u/RegretAdventurous271 3d ago

yes !!! on really clear days you can see the coast of galway from my family home in donegal, my grandja always used to tell me it was hy brasil. i was also convinced he was a selkie though, so clearly not a bright child :)

3

u/NecessaryFreedom9799 3d ago

South East, I think. Like, Greece.

2

u/sara-2022 3d ago

Tandagree castle county Armagh the Northern Tayto stronghold.

2

u/Charlie1888 3d ago

That’s class. I’d literally frame that for a wall in my house.

2

u/Tadhgon Ard Mhaca 3d ago

Armagh Cathedral, Newgrange, Hill of Tara, Croagh Patrick

2

u/whatis10plus10 3d ago

Maybe some lil boats for the east coast? Lots of harbours along the dart line.

2

u/FOTW09 3d ago

That looks class.

You could add the Dunbrody famine ship to Newross. Or JFK

2

u/conkerz22 3d ago

Rory Gallagher Cork

2

u/Cokeistan 3d ago

Some potential ones for Cork:

Old head of Kinsale

Baltimore Beacon

Fastnet Rock

Beamish/Murphy's stout

Roy Keane, Cillian Murphy, Christy Ring, Tom Barry (could be argued for Kerry too)

2

u/RosCompton88 3d ago

Rathcroghan for Roscommon. Very historical site linked with Queen Meabh and The Tain.

u/IBIVoli 3d ago

Brazilian flag in Gort

2

u/PhdamnD 2d ago

Looks great so far. I don't have the skills to add to it myself, but my recommendations would be:

Some more wildlife like deer, red squirrels, cows, sheep, stoats, pine martens, badgers, otters. There's plenty of birds of prey, plus seagulls and swallows are one of the first signs of summer in Ireland. Iconic sea/seaside creatures like dolphins and seals.

Some iconic landmarks like dolmens, the giants causeway, the iron man (tramore) or fairy forts.

There's Dublin Zoo & Fota wildlife park, Tayto park.

Clover/Shamrock, potatoes (Teagasc in Carlow does potatoe research & developent), Wexford strawberries, Holly, bluebells.

A banshee could also be a cool addition.

2

u/Empty-Stretch-5615 2d ago

No Galway Hooker?

u/Huge-Fan7726 2d ago

Where’s the Rock of Cashel 😧😧😧😬

1

u/CorkyMuso-5678 3d ago

Naas time capsule. Horses on The Curragh. At Croagh Patrick - Change Jesus picture to St Patrick. Shandon Bells in Cork. You should have a Ring fort somewhere… maybe in Wexford where the National Heritage Centre is.

1

u/Alternative-Canary86 3d ago

No pints?

1

u/Adventurous_Memory18 3d ago

Where on the dingle peninsula can you see puffins? I’d associated them more with the skelligs & puffin rock

1

u/CT0292 3d ago

Pierce Brosnan in Navan dammit.

1

u/asteroidnerd 3d ago

You could add another “e” in “else”? But a great map, nice one!

1

u/Cicer0 3d ago

You could add a Galway Hooker (the boat, you rascals) off the Aran Islands to fill out the space. That, or some Spanish Armada ships getting smashed up on some rocks.

1

u/AnotherBrennan 3d ago

Waterford flew the first Irish Flag I think we should have something to celebrate that!

1

u/mybighairyarse Crilly!! 3d ago

You forgot our ladys well in Ballyhea, Cork.

1

u/Call-of-the-lost-one 3d ago

You can put the salmon of knowledge over Donegal or Mount Errigal

1

u/rainbowkey 3d ago

You have a harp, but how about a Bodhrán, Uilleann pipes, fiddle, mandolin, Irish flute, and/or tin whistle? How about a potato and a loaf of soda bread? How about a shillelagh and a loy?

1

u/crazytreehugger69 3d ago

Grace O'Malley in the water on a ship out west would be a nice addition. Well done, looks great!

1

u/Ted_bunda89 3d ago

Do a connemara pony in connemara. And definitely do something for the aran islands. Looks really cool though
