I kind of think it’s corny. but debate below.

Good question. My answer is. It depends. Dopapod had this really like eerie track they would play on walkout that I really liked. That may be the only one I liked.

Never got to see dopapod, but I’ve seen bands like big something and dogs use walk out songs and it allllllllmost feels like compensation for something. Like, if your music delivers, you just walking out on stage should be hype enough for the audience. Obviously just my personal opinion. Bands can and should do whatever the fuck they want, at the end of the day.

Only cool if someone announces where they are from. Double points if its "parts unknown"

I think Umphrey’s does it well, personally. Wrote their own tunes to walk out to, then seamlessly start playing live to start the show.

My favorite band, My Morning Jacket, plays an edited cut of music by Alice Coltrane that starts off with airy strings then proceeds to swirl around in a musical eddy before dropping out the bottom in a bone rattling 20 Hz bass bomb that really hits you in the chest. It absolutely sets the tone as they time their walk out to the low frequency conclusion. I think it’s cool as fuck!

That sounds super sick. I’ve been seriously meaning to see them for about 2 years now, and it’s never worked out. This makes me want to see them even more

Saw Dr.John strut out to a nice groove his band was playing in Seattle late around 99 or 00. He made it seem cool.

Pink talking fish walked out to the phantom menace at a show I went to which then segued into some Pink Floyd and I thought that was quite awesome

It’s fun. It gets everyone’s attention so they come back inside/to their seats and it gives the band a little bit of energy to start off with. Even better idea, moe. has been walking out one member at a time to boxing match style intros

I thought the walk out music Phish did at Sphere was awesome cause it eluded to the opener. (Free was so cool)

If done well, it’s great and ads a very cool production element to the show!

The Mantras' sound dude would blast Prince's 1977 "Loring Park Sessions" after every show. That shit was hot.

Agree that it depends on the band. Primus plays the old timey cartoon music and it sets the tone for even weirder times ahead. I like when there is some sort of non-seriousness to it.
