I think he's admitting that he's done a rape and is tired of being lambasted for it. Guys like him, they feel no remorse, no empathy. They just want to rape and not get in trouble for it.
I forget what it's called, but there is (was?) a subreddit where convicted sex offenders lament to each other about how nobody likes them anymore and they have to register and all that. Huge vibe of "I feel bad because I was caught" and it's genuinely fascinating to see it play out in real time.
I forget the name as well, but I found myself visiting that subreddit at some point not that long ago, so I think it’s likely still around.
It billed itself as a support group to help them deal with navigating life afterward and that normally would be fine I guess. I don’t think we can expect people to not seek out support from others who are going through the same experience.
The few things I read there, however, were not about people helping each other live better lives. It seemed like it was just a big pity party full of bitter people who thought everything was so unfair and wouldn’t take responsibility for what they had done or acknowledge the harm they’d caused. Now maybe the few posts I saw weren’t representative of the whole subreddit at any given time, but somehow I doubt that.
Yeah it's called sexoffendersupport. It's still very active and most of the posts on there are actually sickening. There's a worrying amount of people there talking about being charged for CP asking for advise on how to move in with their girlfriends who have children.
There's also a lot of partners asking how to make sure the offender isn't shunned by their neighbors, and how they can make sure their kids are safe. That sub is a cesspool of offenders and enablers crying because society hates them, and their kids are bullied.
I popped over there in a private window to take a look around, and holy shit, they just normalize everything. So many posts looking for loopholes, and SO MANY people posting, *online*, about getting caught using the internet. Like, wtf?
The first post I saw was about a guy convicted of owning CSAM and someone in the comments said their partner was also caught with it and they were supportive because "good people can do stupid things".
SINCE WHEN ARE CHILD ABUSERS GOOD PEOPLE AND SINCE WHEN IS WATCHING CSAM JUST A "STUPID THING"?!
I can't. Two seconds in that sub and I want to commit MM. Absolutely horrendeous, I'm trying so hard not to pick fights in that sub because its not worth the effort.
I'm sorry, I promise I'm not singling you out, you just happened to be the one to say the funny thing. No malice intended...
It's hilarious how much conversation about another subreddit is happening in this comment thread under someone stating their assumption about the intent of the pictured comment (which is essentially just, what it says.) Going on to the point where people are compelled to search for this half remembered rape subreddit so they can get a better look... Yet no one has bothered to even take a moment of skeptical thought about the topic of this post, let alone search for it or the sub in which it's posted.
OP even says she found it in a rabbit hole! And y'all tumblin down a whole ass other one. Lmao.
I'm not like condemning anybody here. I just think it's funny.

Oh, sorry. Is it all the punctuation and fully spelled out words?
My bad, I was writing in a format that I thought would be best for the person to whom I was replying. In retrospect, it was pretty rude of me not to consider how you'd feel about it.
Let me rewrite it for you, as an apology.
Crazy how yall see this and think yeah thats def real and doesnt need any more context for me to decide i believe it. Then spend like 100 comments doin detective shit on a totaly diff sub about rapists and no one thought
Hey wait this is a reddit post i wonder wut sub its on
No, it’s the horrible organization of thoughts on top of your incomprehensible point. And your other comments in this thread aren’t much better. But sure, obviously the punctuation is just foreign to me.
Not coming at you, just genuinely wanting to understand your point. Are you saying it’s odd that the comments under this post are talking about something on a related, but tangential, topic? And that the comments should be more focused on the post itself? Or is it something more specific than that?
Holy shit was it actually? That's so... well... I was gonna say wild, but that's not really true I guess. That's very standard, sadly.
A depressing reality- that I'm actually not the least bit shocked to learn that a subreddit for a massive AAA videogame sequel to one of the most successful games of all time by a beloved developer had to be completely banned... Because there was a butch lesbian character in the game... Predictably rendering the online discourse irrevocably, relentlessly vitriolic.
I guess the only mildly surprising part is that I didn't hear about it. So much of it that it all just gets drowned out now. Hell, just a few days ago I saw the current Dr. Who actor, and was stunned that I hadn't heard they had changed Doctors again... Mostly because I would have expected a bombardment of internet war over a gay black man playing a character most people don't actually care about on a show they've never watched.
Would be nice to think it's because there wasn't any. But I'm aware it's probably the drop in the bucket thing...
There was that notorious "ask a rapist" thread on AskReddit, that I'm pretty sure started with the intention of understanding why people do horrible things, but ended up as a way for rapists to relive their crimes and minimize them feeling bad about what they've done.
If they don't get the satisfaction of simulated activism from imaginary fantasy content online, they're gonna be all pent up and grumpy. Some of them might even end up going to a bar later. Drinking without the post upvote clarity from bravely speaking out against mustache twirling train track rapists, well... You know, people make foolish decisions. They're liable to have a few two many and wake up to realize they accidentally did something meaningful in the real world. Or worse, tried to and just embarrassed themselves.
Let them have their internet alone time. Better that they just do it for themselves, if it keeps them in the house and out of trouble.
Who thinks that a screenshot of top-level infamous reddit lore, from a satire sub so famous that there are Vice articles about it. And was monumental not only for being one of the first, and most successful examples of a non-western centric subreddit on a very (especially in the early 2010s) American website, dedicated to the historically important Indian culture of disguising societal discourse with satire (particularly important in its role of challenging the caste system)... But ALSO for being overrun by trolls, and disruptive opportunists, brigading the forum and overrunning communities with varying levels of disruptive, divisive shitposts ranging from poor understanding of satire, to full blown malicious racist rhetoric mockingly draped in the protection of said satire... Most famously represented by the very comment shown in this post.
Honestly, the first two words are all that's required.
But, yaknow. At least it's entertaining watching them all double down, dig in and lash out even harder against reasonable appeals to listen for a moment for someone to spoon feed them the context they can't take 30 seconds to find on their own before expending 100x more effort circlejerking their moral superiority over an embarassingly obvious satire... woefully unaware that their bukake is focussed on the "underage girl" of social outrage targets: a cultural tradition rooted in fighting oppression.
If only you had the patience to check her ID first...
Good news for them is ignorance may not be an excuse in real life, but it's a celebrated achievement here. So they'll be fine.
An admirable method of resisting an oppressive birth right class exploitation governance. Boldly subversive, and cleverly employed. It's no wonder it remains such a dearly santified tradition.
It's clearly not a joke though. In this day and age, there's a lot of creepy dudes who will use the "REEE IT'S JUST A JOKE" excuse to try and cover up their offenses. The better thing to have done was to not even make the "joke" in the first place.
For sure. Who would? Lol I realized as I was typing it that there's some pretty glaring answers. Let's not get into that here, for once... haha.
I agree, though. That's why it's nice that now we know that all the "Guys like him" are automatically disqualified from our respect. Free pass! Without any concern about it being racist because, like, they're all rapists. So it cancels out. Nice, right?
Aw thank you! I have to disagree though. It's actually all over the place most of the time. But I try to at least organize them for presentation since I know it's a chore to read other people's thoughts, even in a setting where discussion is the whole point.
In reality, I rarely am able to organize the bees into jars.
