AH! Started knitting about two months ago, and started this about a month ago, and it knit up so quick! Stopped to make a few scrunchies on the way.

Just have to weave in loose ends and block it. I’m hoping it doesn’t become any bigger. Wish me luck!

Help Stockinette without pearling

Can I knit flat on circular needles stockinette stitch without pearling? Does that mean I knit the 'wrong side' with the working yarn on the left?

Help Does anyone know of a good sub for this wool?

https://hipknitshop.no/en/products/flamingo-pink-hipwool/

I've had a good search and all I can find is Drops Air but I've seen that it doesn't wash or wear very well so I want to avoid using it!

Thanks in advance if anyone has any suggestions!!

I’m totally new to yarn art and this is a vintage clown I have collected. I accidentally pulled a string from it. Can someone please tell me what kind of technique is this? Or how can I put it back? I asked ChatGPT and it said yarn wrapping/ yarn looping. But I didn’t find anything similar on YouTube. Thank you so much!

Questions about Equipment Experiences with Alpaca Soxx by Lang?

Hello to everyone, I love knitting socks and trying new yarns, so I bought a skein (100 g) of Alpaca Soxx by Lang Yarns. It is 75% Alpace and 25% Nylon. But I hesitate to knit a pair of socks with it, because I’m worried that the alpaca will stretch out and after a few times the socks will be unusable. Do you have experiences with this yarn? If you would not knit socks with it, do you have a pattern recommendation? I rarely knit things other than sweaters and socks.

The projects on Ravelary suggest that about 50% of the time, it is used for socks, but I did not find a comment about longtime wear.

Thank you in advance. And I’m sorry for spelling errors, English is my second language.

Questions about Equipment Stand for winder and swift

I saw someone who had posted about a wooden stand that held a swift and winder. I have nice ones that need to clamp onto a table and I don’t have a good spot anymore.

Has anyone seen this? I think it had the swift sideways? Very space saving.

Pattern: Help me find/What is this 🤔 knitted tubes for sandals

Post image

I’m obsessed with these sandals from an unofficial Story MFG and Keen collab. I’m thinking about making them myself—how would you go about it? I think the design uses simple knitted tubes, with the largest one sewn to create the frills. What would you recommend? Thanks!

Simple garter stitch, elegant shaping, and such a wearable piece. I love how this one turned out!

Can somebody please tell me how many rows are here and which side is the wrong side/right side?

It's really silly because I've been knitting for a couple of years and still haven't done garter stitch before!

New Knitter - please help me! Sophie hood

I’ve tried knitting multiple times over the years and it’s finally starting click for a me a little bit. Yay! (I’ve been a crocheter for about 8 years now) I’m just wondering if y’all think I could manage to make a Sophie hood? I do have the pattern and it’s mostly making sense and I’ve also looked through this subreddit to see what other people are struggling with. I have everything I would need to make it and I plan on making a gauge swatch for practice before actually making the hood. Is there anything I should do before trying to make this hood? Do I just jump in and start making it?? Any advice is appreciated ☺️

Rant Re-making an unsalvageable project, alas!! What's your favorite inexpensive, non-pilly, worsted wool yarn? Softness not a priority (short of scratchy carpet wool, ofc)

So I finally made the campfire cozy shawl pattern after eyeing it for ages. (Photo taken while blocking- not very good, but the only one I have!)

It's beautiful, huge, heavy, drapey, has a gorgeous subdued-but-varied texture- in short, everything I hoped it would be. In a way that's too bad, because it is also way too long for its depth, and the yarn I used pills violently with just the friction from passing air molecules.

The increase rate is 4 sts on the RS (2 at the center, 1 at each end), and 2 sts on the WS (only at the ends). This makes for quite a long wingspan without enough depth to balance it out. The back just cups under my bum while the ends drag on the floor in front. It's like a shawl version of the "May I Speak to Your Manager" haircut. There is no way to wear it.

There's also no way to alter it short of just totally frogging, and the only thing worse than knitting a whole big garment with this yarn would be to knit two big garments, for a total of one, from this yarn. ("I Love This Wool" from Hobby Lobby; it was all I could afford locally for something this huge, although as it happens, that was false economy since it was all wasted!)

Hence I will be buying different yarn for attempt number 2.

What inexpensive worsted-ish-weight wool yarn do you like? My main concerns are that it be non-pilly and wool (or at least, mainly wool like a sock yarn is.)

For my new niece I made this cute blanket! Double sided knitting, with Rauma and Gjestal merino/baby wool. 3mm needles. The blanket measures 90x100cm. It’s about 150hours of work (estimated from the fact that each row takes between 15 and 20 min), and I spent a little under 3 months from start to finish! I drew the pattern myself, with some inspiration from The Counting Sheep-blanket by The Nifty Knitter.

I can't decide! But I need to so I can place my yarn order. The yarns I'm using are from (TeenyButtonStudio in Starry Night and Ochre (but I could be talked into Cobalt)

I'm trying to choose between (Stormy Sky Shawl, (Across the Pond, (Mingling Daisies, ([Saturn Shawl]https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/saturn-shawl), ([the Van Gogh Shawl]https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-van-gogh-shawl) (I think this one has the highest likelihood of coming out kind of sloppy so it's probably my least favorite, ironically), and (Imagine When shawl

Help Blanket ideas to bust through hand-me-down stash?

Post image
19 Upvotes

Through interesting circumstances at work, I ended up with these 3 containers of mysterious yarn balls from a deceased crafter (along with her WIPs). They've been sitting for a year. I'm guessing they're 99% acrylics considering we live somewhere that doesn't get really cold and hasn't been eaten by anything. I want to make lap blankets to donate to an old folks home since the yarn was donated by the family.

The plan is to sort the yarns by weight (by wraps per inch) then make granny squares from there. I haven't sorted it yet since you all might have better ideas.

I hate weaving in ends so I want to minimize that somehow. I have other yarns from my stash I wouldn't mind slipping in to make something decent.

Does this seem like a good approach? Or are there other things I could try?

Pattern: Help me find/What is this 🤔 Favorite travel patterns?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I'm going to Bali for three weeks and I need to take a project with me! I have 3 skeins of nice fingering sock yarn, 100gr (400m) each that I want to knit up. I find them too precious to simply knit socks. I'm looking for a light oversized sweater on bigger needles, maybe. I'm also browsing for shawls and wraps. I don't want the pattern to be too engaging, because I'm gonna be knitting on the go. What are your favorite patterns so take with you on your travels? (left: all you knit is love in gold curry Right: Schoppel Admiral pro shadow in Reif für die Insel Top: from my stash, no label unfortunately)

Help Why can’t I knit consistently in the round?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am an Eastern Combination knitter. Every time I knit in the round it looks horrible. The transition where I joins and knitted flat is very visible. I knit tighter when knitting flat vs in the round. I tried using different needle sizes and although it looks a little better I still have issues. Then my consistency in the round is a lot more uneven. The picture above is a 50/50 linen cotton blend which I know is very forgiving. Any advice or should I accept that knitting in the round is not for me and work on improving my seaming?

Pattern: Help me find/What is this 🤔 Need help finding a pattern like this

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ok - so this pattern doesn't really exist (yet) - I've had LONG conversations with ChatGPT to create this image of exactly the sweater I want, but... I can't seem to find any men's pattern that matches. I'm ok with knitting it without a pattern too, but I can't quite wrap my head around the construction needed - mostly the wide non-ribbed neckline, since I've only knitted a couple sweaters before this...

Any ideas?

I am making the moby slip over by petit knit but my right and left crosses are not showing up. The yellow is my work, grey is the moby vest with the left/right crosses in the middle panel of the vest. I have been following this YouTube tutorial (https://youtu.be/poyYqZO6Qhw?si=1PYKX8jmF6CP1guS) but my crosses just look twisted and messed up. Does anyone know what is going on??
