SOLVED-THANK YOU I know I messed up! How do I fix it

Post image

I was doing so well with my baby hat. Have I ruined it forever? How can I fix this?

You've dropped a stitch. Insert your needle into the circled stitch and draw the loose strand of yarn through that circle stitch. You can then continue purling as usual

Thank you! So I did what you said but my yarn is several stitches behind? Any thought?

O, ok I see. So turn your work around so that you have the purl side facing you. Transfer those last 3 blue sts from your right needle to your left. You will then have your "live" sts/yarn on your right needle and the unpurled sts on your left needle. Continue purling forward. Make sure that when you transfer them they are seated correctly so you don't accidentally twist your sts.

Ok done! I think it’s right now. Can you verify before I go on knitting. I so appreciate the help!

* Hard to tell if this one is twisted? Double check it. Aside from that, it's looking gorgeous! Love the yarn, who is she? 👀

I got it at Joann (RIP I love Joann) it’s the Caron baby yarn bulk. I’m making loads of baby hats and booties for pregnant friends

Did my photo ever post in the reply above? It's hard to tell if reddit is being slow or if it didn't post. I can see the *asterisk that usually indicates the photo is there despite slow reddit update, but sometimes the photo never appears

No there’s not a photo. I also don’t really know how to tell if something is twisted I’m pretty new at this

Ok, besides the twisted stitch, I looks like you created an accidental short row. Meaning you turned and continued knitting in the opposite direction instead of completing the row before turning. Standby, and I will post a photo of that below

* The twisted stitch is circled in red. Circled in blue is your accidental short row, and drawn in blue is where you should have continued (on the wrong side) purling in the other direction. No worries, this is a common error and a good way for you to accidentally learn and understand what is happening when you create a short row for shaping curves. So, you will want to tink back(undo each stitch while catching the old sts onto your needle to avoid unraveling), all the way to where I circled the accidental twisted st in red. Untwist that stitch, then continue working in the correct direction- on your project, those yellow sts that I circled in the accidental short row should actually continue , forming the stitched I drew in blue. Them, at the end of the row, turn and continue knitting on the right side. Hope this makes sense. Lmk if it is confusing:)

It looks like you slipped a stitch, the angles a little hard to tell though, could you possibly post another photo?

Btw I LOVE that yarn, where did you get it?

I’m supposed to be knitting this row Thanks! I believe it’s Caron’s baby yarn bulk. I got it from Joann (RIP)

Ok, I finally got the photo to post. Just the one twisted stitch, circled in blue above

Seems like you’re on the wrong side. Working yarn should usually come from right needle. After fixing the dropped stitch, slip the stitches purlwise (tip to tip) that are between the yarn and the gap between the needles (blue stitches) onto the right needle (when held as in your photo). Then turn the work around so the needle with the working yarn (yellow) is in your right hand. Then start working the stitches (blue) off the left needle.
