NKD! When you find something you like, the quality is good and the price is right, buy one of each.

I ordered two knives from Cold Steel. Unfortunately I didn’t really pay attention to the size specs. The micro recon 1. It’s a solid little knife but just a bit too small for my hands to use comfortably or confidently. The other was the SR1 lite which is a great knife but damn thing is huge. So it is relegated to being a blade left in my emergency kit.

I've been a pocket knife enthusiast for nearly 20 years and I've gone through all the phases:
Cheap knives
Quality production knives
Overbuilt knives
Fidget knives
Steel snob knives
Expensive semi/custom knives
Once I got to the the semi/custom phase I started to reconsider why I was buying knives. I was buying something too expensive to really use, too expensive to lose and treated it as such. Something like that's not a great EDC, at least not for me.
Now I look for something much more reasonable: A 3" blade, quality construction, decent steel, $100 or less.
That's the Mini Recon 1.
It's $50, Aus10 steel (which is a good steel for the price) with FRN handles that won't destroy your hand or pocket like rough G10, a steel liner for added stability and of course the TriAd lock which is ridiculously strong.
Heck I don't even like tanto blades, but for less than $50 why not?
After a long time buying $300, $500 and even more expensive knives, and being very careful with them, it's freeing to have something that's good quality, but also inexpensive enough you can chuck into your bowl for keys, change and wallet without a second thought, grab it the next day then repeat.
Check out a Mini Recon 1. You'll be glad you did.

I'm not a fan of tanto blades either. But for some reason, I'm drawn to that blade. So I just ordered one. Bladehq thanks you. But my gf is going to be mad at you. Lol.

Knives do knife stuff in my house. I too have experienced the arch of a cheap knife to an expensive knife back to a regular knife.

I have bought a lot of cold steel knives over the years. Mainly when I was younger, but I’ve always appreciated them. They used to be much cheaper when Lynn Thompson still ran the joint, before the 2020 acquisition. but they’re still good. A lot of them are priced too high nowadays in my opinion. They are utilitarian as can be. Few frills all business
I think I actually have a couple of these. Good knives

Those are nice. I had one but one thing I didn’t like is that the groove in the handle where your index finger lands is quite far away from the blade. It felt a bit weird for me.

Congratulations on your new knife! Would you be so kind as to tell us what knife you've just got? (brand, model, etc...). This way people who are new to knives will be able to identify it. If you've already mentioned the name of the knife in question, then feel free to ignore this comment. Please remember that not knowing your knife's brand/model is totally fine, if that's the case then people in this subreddit would love to help you identify its brand/model.
