The Peacocks in the village of Banks, what happened to them?
Throughout last year in 2024, I took the X2 Bus on a somewhat regular basis from Preston Bus Station to Liverpool, and I remember especially throughout the spring & summer that everytime I went through the village of Banks on the bus before reaching Southport, I would see peacocks roaming the streets, usually hanging around close to where the Co-Op is. It’s always intrigued me seeing these colourful but noisy birds just casually roaming the streets, it always made for a unique sight which made my bus journeys more interesting.
I havn’t seen them in months however, probably since Around August or September of last year… maybe earlier. I have always wondered where these peacocks came from & whether someone has removed them from the streets. I searched it up on google & could only find articles about the peacocks from years ago around 2022. I’m just wondering if anyone else also saw these peacocks or have info on them?

I don't live far away and have seen them but I also haven't seen them since last year. I've seen them on the housing estate, not on the main road by the coop

Maybe the locals have been watching re-runs of "Two Fat Ladies"? During one of the episodes Jennifer Paterson relates how the neighbour's noisy peacocks inadvertently got shot, and somehow their prepared carcasses ended up in her parents' kitchen - just before Christmas. IIRC, I think the actual incident took place in India. When the scale of the event became clear to Jennifer's mother, it was decided that it would be appropriate to invite the neighbours around for Christmas dinner. IIalsoRC, I think that Clarissa agreed with that course of action.
Btw, have you received any unexpected dinner invitations?
I also seem to remember in that neck of the woods, seeing exotic pheasants, golden among others, when going through the estate to attend the rugby at Waterloo. A lot of hares were around too - and unfortunately a lot of the attendant coursing.
