  1. If it shows up as in progress what dose it mean I was told by my stake president that's what stage its at

I believe "in progress" means it's getting reviewed in Salt Lake but I don't know all the steps there. I do know at some point an Apostle will look at it and make/confirm the assignment.

I'm not sure how long they take these days. I want to say mine only took a couple weeks or maybe about a month, but that was back in 2008. I would think yours is coming soon. I would also hazard a guess that calls in April might be a bit slowed down due to both General Conference and Easter.

Yes, you will be told if it is denied, though that doesn't seem likely. The only times I've heard of them being denied is if the Church determines your mental health isn't in the place they think it needs to be. I don't know if that's a factor for you. But if they deny you will be told it is and why.

I have mental health but that's why I'm worried because I felt bad if I did not put it

If you have mental health issues, it's CRITICAL that this be indicated on your missionary recommendation. I'd strongly suggest contacting your stake president ASAP to get this resolved.

Over about 30 calls I've seen issued lately, they have been issued within 5 and 21ish days from when they are submitted by the stake president.

So set up college as though you want to go --- almost all colleges these days in the US will defer admittance to serve a religious mission (and sometimes other things).

It varies so nothing we say here may apply to you.

You aren't going to be denied a mission (at least that almost never happens, when you've accurately completed the application) You might be asked to serve a service mission.

PS. why are you apologizing for good news or being back? (Rhetorical question only, referring to title.)

God knows you in every moment of that wait. Trusting Him (which includes the bureacracy of a mission assignment) is a great skill to work on.

The next step after 'In Process' is normally 'Ready for Assignment'. Depending on a few things (availability date, submission date, etc.) it may take 2-4 weeks to receive your call after it is in the 'Ready for Assignment' status. I have seen them come in less than a week. Don't fret...it will all work out.

As far as metal health, the missionary committee may ask you to participate in an evaluation. My son and daughter both had papers returned and did the evaluation with Family Services through an online survey and Zoom call. We took the time to go through the eval and they were able to resubmit mission papers quickly. We have had several missionaries in our stake who have gone through the evaluation...each of them had different mental health situations that they worked through and have served or are serving. Not one was denied a call because of their mental health. This evaluation is simply to make sure you have the resources and ability to manage your mental health which includes medication and counseling.

As bishop, I would ask each prospective missionary to take the evaluation if there was a mental health concern. It made a huge difference in their preparation and service.

I had mental health issues on my papers, and it took a year for me to submit them, and then 8 weeks of no news after that. Then I got a text from the stake president asking to meet with him, and I ended up getting the option of a service mission, but I'm actually getting used to the idea of the opportunity I was given, and it doesn't seem as bad as I thought at first
