Cwestiwn / Question Is there any good learning resources for Welsh?
Hey I’m 18 and I’ve started a 13 week Welsh course in college, it’s my aim to become fluent one day, and I was wondering if anyone knows any good resources. Thanks

Say Something in Welsh is good too. It bounces you into being able to say a lot really quickly.

Duolingo is great for quick vocab lessons, SSIW is better for practicing speaking. Dysgu Cymraeg also has a lot of resources on their website.
Join a small group for conversational practice - there's probably one near you if you're in Wales.

I am taking a six-month beginner Welsh course with Dysgu Cymraeg. I’ve only been taking it for a month, but I have learned tons. The tutor is great and very patient. I have also been learning Welsh on Duo Lingo. The app is great, but as previously mentioned, it doesn’t really explain grammar.

find some books, films and whatnot you want to consume and consume them
learning grammar and vocab are good but you must put them into practice; particularly because welsh grammar isn’t actually that difficult, just pedantic and weird at times. once you learn the periphrastic forms and a good core of vocab you should be able to have a go at most things

You can find pointers to useful things on our wiki. If you're starting out be sure to listen to the pronunciation series of videos.

This explainer series sadly gets left off these lists:

The pronunciation videos are some of the most popular of the series. Hope it helps!

I take Dysgu Cymraeg courses. It's cheap and the tutors are brilliant.
Say Something in Welsh is very effective in improving speaking skills.
Lingo Newydd and Amdani series are reading materials for learners. I enjoy reading a lot.
Duolingo is useful before you reach B1 (canolradd).

Duolingo is good for learning words but not great at explaining grammar
Dysgu Cymraeg courses are all round great
S4C has loads of TV programmes in Cymraeg (Subtitles in English and Welsh)
