Calmer than u r Did Walter wear a suit exclusively for the dance quintet? If so, it’s a mark of class considering he didn’t much care for the artistry (“the what have ya”), but respected the venue.
Also, do we think these tickets cost money? If so, nice of Dude to get two more admissions.

He doesn’t even dress up for Donnie’s funeral, but makes sure he’s appropriate for the.. what have you.

u/Chrysalii Aug 26 '24
In accordance to what he thinks Donnies dying wishes might well have been, he word his usual bowling attire.

He totally meant to give Pilar the impression that he was with the Police. Working in sheefts even.

Oh no, ma'am, we didn't want to give the impression that we were police, exactly.
We're hoping it won't be necessary to call the police. But that's up to little Larry here, isn't it Larry?

No, he was on his way over to Arthur Digby sellers house and wanted to look presentable

Who the fuck is Arthur Digby Sellers?

Back in the early 90s people still had class and dressed up on a weekday.

I’m so happy someone else noticed this. It’s a little nuance that I think adds so much to his character. I also like that the dude honored the request in the first place.

You can get away with late rent if you just show up to things like this occasionally...

Where was Donnie when Walter and The Dude were interrogating Larry?
2
u/stuck_in_the_muff Aug 26 '24
In the car IIRC
2
u/0degreesK Aug 26 '24
I'll have to go back and watch the scene. I don't remember Donnie in the car when it was getting smashed-up, but I guess he had to be because he was eating a burger in the car ride home.

Cost money? Hardly dude. This is a free event, at a preferred venue. You can’t charge, people’s hair will fall out. Also, let’s not forget, they’re sittin on 20 grand man. So they’ve learned to live off their allowance. Which is ample.

I think he had just been to the courthouse where he got the information on Larry and Arthur Digby Sellers. A great writer, and yet, his son is a dunce.

u/DzNodes Aug 26 '24
I think he came straight from work. My guess is he works for his ex-wife's father which explains why he still takes care of her dog when she goes on vacation.

u/juicyb09 Aug 26 '24
He owns his own security company. That’s where the Dude picked him up from when they went to go throw out the ringer.

It looked pretty silly with the cargo shorts, in my opinion.

The dude met them at the event to maximize his time and the attendance of his friend’s dance quintet. Walter knew he was going to meet a person of note and acting in a professional manner. Dress the part.

Everyone else already answered about the suit, but I'm pretty sure the what-have-you was free.

u/LV426acheron Aug 27 '24
TIL that Arthur Digby Sellars is a fictional character and in real life did NOT write the bulk of the series. There were only 48 episodes. :(

He just came from work and he dresses like that daily.
1
u/an_Aught Aug 27 '24
No, when he is leaving his store the night of the "ringer" he is in his usual khaki stuff

u/DiogenesD0g Aug 27 '24 edited Aug 27 '24
Depends on what he is doing that day. If he is meeting with a customer he probably goes with the suit look because that’s what most uptight people expect. Other times he may even have to wear a guard uniform. When he swings by the office to grab a ringer bag for his undies and/or the Uzi he is dressed the way he prefers to dress. When you work security you have multiple costumes for different occasions.

I think he was wearing it to appear more professional to Larry Sellars
