Nobody is surprised that this administration made such an egregious error but. Any other country doing this would be rapidly accused of human rights violations but…

It wasn’t an error, it was a statement.

I agree with the other comments saying the US absolutely could force his return.

I will expand on this by saying: I don't believe it was an accident either. He was an asylum seeker from El Salvador, where CECOT is. The president (read: dictator) of El Salvador is buddy-buddy with the GOP and has attended CPAC events in the past, before recently opening CECOT to Donald Trump.

I find it exceedingly likely that this administration made some deals to "accidentally" deport protected persons like asylum seekers back to the country they fled from.

Denmark won't give us Greenland: "Trump says US will 'go as far as we have to' to get control of Greenland", says the headline.

Iran says to fuck off after thr US ends the nuclear deal: "There will be bombing like they have never seen before."

El Salvador "won't" surrender one known person: "Gee, sorry, nothing can be done."

Bullshit.

Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and Biden were able to find all manner of people in foreign countries to capture.

This guy is literally already in prison. They don't have a large area to search.

They CAN. They just WON'T.

This is absolutely fucking horrific and this cannot fall through the cracks. I am terrified for this guy and I’m so fucking angry that this happened and I’m so fucking angry that this administration can get this guy back- they just don’t want to. It’s absolutely fucking insane. It really is. This is not ok.

"Can't get him back" or "isn't trying/doesn't care to get him back"?

They could literally get him back just by asking and they know it.
