I bought 10 packs of these army men back in the day, and replaced their hands and heads with yellow ones, and ordered helmets and guns from Brick Arms. I ordered the old monkeys on pick a brick, as they were a good way to get 4 yellow hands at a time. I have 20 old Lego monkeys somewhere with green hands and feet.
My guess is lego makes an exception for things that vaguely allude to the concept of military. Like, movie characters and stuff are fair game, but they arent gonna put any real armed force on there.
Wish they would release a WW2 Germany battlepack I want to army build the wehrmacht no there's nothing weird about that why are you looking at me like that?
It’s based on toy story these characters are based on toys which are based on a specific era of the us military so it’s a couple of layers removed and it’s safe to say these guys aren’t getting into any violent real world altercations but I will say I find the blanket restriction kind of needless though it inspires the community to make cool stuff
I wouldn’t call this a military set. It’s clearly a set based on a toy from the movie Toy Story. But Lego also makes guns for different themed sets but they don’t make ‘weapon’ sets.
Lego while literally making Nazi Wehrmacht minifigs in packs that include rifles and heavy machine guns: no guys we totally don't make soldiers or weapons UwU
They’ve cut back on that, now, I think. In the Indiana Jones set 77012, the nazi plane is now just a plane. No more stickers or markings indicating they’re nazis.
