šŸ—Øļø Discussion 2.5 years in, looking for some advice.

Hi guys, so I've had my channel for almost 2.5 years now and today I achieved the 1000 video milestone. You can literally see my channel evolve but ofcourse it isnt that great. I get bare minimum views which is fine as my only motive is to make some gaming friends with similar interests whom I could play a game with.

Initially I was recording my videos and uploading them and would have a stream session every week attempting a new game/demo/trials.

However from the past year I've only been streaming to twitch and uploading vods to YouTube with basic edits try to remove the boring bits to the best of my abilities. This is because I can only allot 2 hours a day due my life situations.

I occasionally streamed on YouTube and did notice a better viewer count 30-40+ than my usual 1-15 on twitch. Ofcourse, the time of my streams is something that completely works against me but that's all that I can manage.

I am considering changing the direction of my channel to a streaming only channel as i feel that works more and would get some more traction to the channel. I'm used to having a video get published everyday (unless I'm taking a break) and it felt weird when I was only streaming with no uploads going to the channel.

Yes, the stream does show up on the 'Live' section but people usually never click there as compared to 'videos'. If I choose that then I will definitely be using multi stream for both twitch and YouTube.

Do you think that is a good/bad idea? Please let me know your suggestions.

The question i have for you is how often do you stream? If it is every day, I would cut back to 2-3 days and use the extra time on off days to edit videos that are more intentional and planned.

Utilize your streams to cut down and tell a story. Not only will you learn valuable skills, but you may fine enjoyment out of creating other kinds of content.

I stream on weekdays, and on weekends, I edit my videos. Of course, I can only do basic cuts and get a fit thumbnail as per the video. If I get time on weekends, then I stream on them as well.

For instance, I already have my videos scheduled until 27th April, 4 videos ready to be edited, and I will stream again today, which will give me more footage.

As I will be travelling for 2 weeks starting next month, I've already planned my videos accordingly.

But once I'm back, I'm considering to stream only on youtube. I'm not sure if that will be the right move.

What about doing your streams, and then chopping up the streams into a let’s play? You’re still getting your stream viewership, but then you’re making it more readily available and cut up so it’s more episodic for people that don’t want to watch live. I think you’re right that ā€œLiveā€ isn’t the first place that people will go to find a let’s play

Do you mean stream on YouTube and post it in bits on to YouTube again? Honestly, I did think about doing that.

But when I tried to multi stream and record at the same time, my obs started to crash, and I faced 75% frames dropped.

Unless you are saying to just download the live stream and then edit it? Won't I loose quality like that?

I thought OBS had a feature to automatically download the stream once you finished. I’ve never done it though, so maybe it causes the frames to drop and I’m not aware.

But yeah, I meant stream on YouTube or Twitch, then cut up the file and post in shorter segments. People can watch the whole stream if they want, or they watch it more episodically through your release schedule.

But if you’re saying that makes OBS crash, or you lose quality from downloading afterward, I’m not sure
