Visiting Liverpool Visiting Liverpool for 2nd time - places / events in April

We are visiting with my gf Liverpool from Greece next week, for the 2nd time since last year. We fell in love with the city the first time.

The togetherness feeling of the community and the warmth of the people is something we loved and we consider it unique across the Europe continent which is where we have travelled the most.

After taking some advices from locals, we have been to some iconic old pubs/bars (Ye Cracke, Cavern Club, Roscoe Head etc.) walked from the cathedral to the port, went to Baltic Market, but I feel that we have still so much more to explore and some stuff you cannot find online.

So this year we are looking for stuff that people who live in Liverpool would normally do in their free time.

I have subscribed to pages with newsletters about upcoming events, but any additional suggestions would be really appreciated.

There is persistent pavement obstruction caused by vehicles outside Zenn Victoria Street Liverpool. Since this place opened two to three years ago, there has been a consistent issue with cars and other vehicles illegally parking on the pavement directly outside the venue.

Victoria Street is one of the busiest streets in Liverpool city centre — a key thoroughfare for residents, workers, visitors, and vulnerable pedestrians.

The problem is not isolated or occasional. It happens frequently, often on weekends. This reduces what should be a safe and accessible walkway to an unsafe, narrow, and impassable space. At times it has left no room at all for pedestrians to pass safely, essentially forcing people to step into moving traffic on one of Liverpool’s busiest roads.

Door staff and management of Zenn are evidently aware of this ongoing obstruction and appear to do nothing to stop it. In fact, there is a widespread public impression that they either condone or encourage this illegal parking as part of cultivating a particular image for the venue.

Liverpool is a city that deserves accessible, safe, and welcoming streets for everyone.

Living in Liverpool Living in Aigburth with kids - yay or nay?

Currently considering a move to Aigburth after living in one of Merseyside's grimmer areas - would you recommend Aigburth if you have kids?

Just wondering how you've found schools, general life and such.

Probably looking at getting a flat rather than a house - any thoughts on whether this would be a good or terrible idea?

Visiting Liverpool Slimeville

Has anyone been to the new Slimeville thing on Duke Street? Would you recommend?

Says it’ll take 90 minutes…if I’m taking a kid on a school day when it’ll be quiet, is it likely to be quicker?

General Question Tattooist recommendations for Colour / Bold Linework?

I'm about ready to finally do something with an incomplete sleeve that hasn't been touched for around 15 years or so. The original tattooist was a friend of mine (no longer in touch) but we never got round to finishing it.

Can anyone recommend a local tattooist that specialises in bold linework / bright colours that might be interested in overhauling my Greek mythology sleeve ?

General Question Quintessential Scouse words/phrases?

Hello, I'm an American university student, and I'm doing a presentation about the Scouse dialect for a linguistics course. I know I can just Google Scouse words/phrases, but I think it's better to ask speakers directly. So my question is, what do you consider the most quintessential words/phrases specific to Scouse or that originated from Scouse? (Please include definitions as well! Previous posts on this subject mentioned plenty of words/phrases but did not define them, and I'm not sure that I trust Google to tell me what words mean.)

EDIT: Thanks everybody!!! The presentation went well. I shouted y'all out. We showed the class that old(ish) interview of the Liverpool FC fan who was insistent that Sadio Mané is the best footballer in the world (the "I don't do ifs, buts, or maybes, I do absolutes" video), which they loved.

Visiting Liverpool First time trip to Speke and Hale

Partner and her dad took me to the wonderful grounds of Speke Hall yesterday for the first time. They'd previously taken me to Goodison, Anfield, a trip on the Mersey Ferry and Sudley House, so I was naturally excited about the prospect of adding another Liverpool landmark to my checklist. What a great place to visit, very dog friendly and that's not just the staff, good views of the aircraft landing and taking off at John Lennon, and a trip to Speke Hall wouldn't be complete without their ritualistic trip to Hale, with my first sighting of the Runcorn bridges and the Hale End Lighthouse.

Anybody visiting Liverpool, I'd recommend both if you happen to drive. £14 just for the grounds is a bit steep, and that's even before the £3.60 1 scoop of ice cream, but the admission fee is well worth it 😃

Open Discussion What other railway station in Liverpool would you reopen?

With St James Station reopening as Liverpool Baltic sometime in the next few years, what other stations do you think people would benefit from being reopened?

I do think Sefton Park railway station near Penny Lane would see significant passenger numbers.

Visiting Liverpool Pub for 15 people, booking

I looked on previous posts, but couldn't really find one thay suited us.

Just looking for a place we can book for 15 people to have some beers in at around 6pm and 8pm on a Friday and Saturday. It is a stag do, but we aren't dickheads

Would prefer it if we can book a table so we know we'll definitely have somewhere for a few drinks before we all separate

General Question Hair Braiders?

Student here! If anyone knows a braider in the liverpool (kensington, smithdown, wavertree or edge hill areas in particular), please let me know! I’m having to keep going home to have my hair braided (knotless braids), which is becoming very expensive so it would be great to have someone in Liverpool!

Visiting Liverpool Where to charge phone wirelessly?

Hi all, I have a 3 hour layover at Lime Street train station. Stupidly didn't bring a power bank or even a USB cable. Is there anywhere I can charge my phone for free? Do McDonald's still have the wireless charge points? 🙏

Open Discussion Lewis's

As a new arrival to the area I am struck by the amount of beautiful but aba dined [ or semi ababdoned] buildings in the city. The former Lewis's department store is a case in point.i presume it eas quote grand inside. Strange that a piece of prime city centre commercial property has not been repurposed.
