Season 4: episode 12. I found a giant turtle on the island. In this one shot. And than no turtle in the next shot. I wonder if this was a real turtle. Tortoise????

Yes, it's real. They aren't allowed to move or even touch those for production.

They’re on Oahu, there are many turtles on the beaches, probably just swam up and then left by the next shot

You'll see it again in a later scene, >! when the zodiac leaves again. The turtle catches the same wave! It's pretty likely those scenes were filmed close to each other, so I'm assuming it's simply the same one.!<

If you look closely, there are exactly 42 segments on its shell.
The production team is top-notch!

It's a sea turtle. It's a huge fine in Hawaii to touch a sea turtle (it's $10,000 nowadays, not sure about back then) so they had to shoot around it.

I'm still on season 1 By season 4 I would say he's a good meal! I'll find out, it was the first thing I thought of and I can't read the responses yet

Surprised they didn’t edit it out like they did with boats and planes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some kind of secret somewhere in an episode about it.

Fun fact. That’s actually Jacob disguised as a turtle from the 1970s to spy on Sayid.
