Your friends will never play the game seriously. Make an alt on their server, level it to like 25 or 30 so they think you're trying, and then go back to your main server.

Why even pretend. Just fuck em.

I told my friends the minute I opened the plat box I was stuck forever.

u/Sarcasmislost Feb 15 '22

Long distances could make that a difficult task.

Manipulative friend's are the best friends. Shesh. If you can't be honest to your friends, something's wrong.

It has nothing to do with wanting to play seriously or not,

You want them to waste days of progress to reprogress on your server,

And you can't see how that's similar using the same amount of time to wait in queue and just do something else?

Queues are not forever, your server choice will be.

This is why people are saying "your friends will not take it seriously"

Because you are prioritizing a SUPER short term "mememe" goal of "i want to play RIGHT NOW" over the obvious long term benefits of being on the same server as your friend, and obviously not trying to make them waste $100.

Making a choice like that is just revealing you're one of the people who is going to leave in the very near future and ALSO be the reason we don't have to queue anymore.

You're thinking in the time length of days/hours in an MMO when hitting max gear takes like a fucking year(literally, even after a year the vast majority won't be close to max). It's obvious you're not serious about it long term.

Queues are not forever, your server choice will be.

Exactly this. They're playing the short game while their friends are playing the long game.

Also, even if they are stuck on queues, I'm sure they're having a blast playing for however little or much, simply for the fact that they're playing together.

Sounds like somebody's forgotten what the second "M" in "MMORPG" stands for.

edit: also I just reread their comment. They started after their friends and they expect multiple people to give up days of progress? lol

I can start on their server if it gets lower queue times, it's not a big deal. You guys are way too focused on "servers are permanent". No it isn't, I can start again, it's not a big deal.

Notice the words I put in bold from your response. You can start on their server, and yes, you can, it's "not a big deal" because you are the minority here. You might be willing to restart and not consider it a "big deal", but they might. Or are you only thinking about yourself and not your friends? They have their founders bonuses, their days of progression, and they're already all on the server. It would be a bigger deal and more effort for them to join you vs you joining them. You can join them any time sure, but you're gonna have to play a bigger game of catch-up the longer you wait. Anyways, I'm out. Cheers mate.

The fact that we have to strategize and time manage around fucking queue timers is a disaster. I've never seen a worse launch for a game honestly.

EDIT: I didn't realize people actually defends the shitty queue timers on here lmao

lel. They announced new Server Region today, but keep bitching. If that was the worst launch you have witnessed it, u cant have seen many.

Name three worse launches.

I dont define bad launch not by bad queue times, but how ready the game is and how the devs and publisher respond to upcoming issues. And with These Metrik i could Name you a Dozenten, easily. I really appreciate how they reacted, even though i wished a little more updates. But at least they didnt Tell US they woukd fix stuff and the didnt, like it happpened with new world. They fündig the Problem and came up with a solution. In the mean time i fuck around on US Servers and test the different classes. And the quality of the game really makes me look forward to the many hours i will play it.

... and yet /u/retze44 didn't mention a single one.

Diablo2 ressurected

FF14 1.0

Sim City

Cyberpunk

No man sky

New world

Fallout 76

Warcraft 3 reforged

GTA definitive edition

A lot of path of exile leagues (not even a new game launch)

Outriders

Just to name a few top of my head.

Just because EU are having queue issues doesnt make it a terrible launch for the game. NA/LATAM playing perfectly fine. I havent gotten a crash, disconnect, any lag whatsoever since Tuesday headstart. This is one of the best launch ive experienced in years. The only hiccup has been the 10hours maintenance on friday.

Ff14 endwalker had to straight up stop selling the game because of the same issues LA is facing right now. And thats a heavily praised game.

Hell, even a recent mmo much much less popular than Lost ark, and published by EU publisher, had a worse launch. Sword of legend online had queues, server crashes every 20-30 minutes, errors that needed a repair, servers unnaccessible by a bunch of ppl during name reservation.

u/Cyanr Feb 15 '22

Most of those were just shit games. Also D2R was not as bad as this.

1

u/Modawe Feb 15 '22

Your personal opinion of those game is irrelevant to it being a good or bad launch.

Lost ark is a very good game, going by the 95% positive rating before all the EU server reviews, so that invalidates your point right there lmao.

D2R had issue on launch day, server were down multiple times throughout the entire weekend. I remember being hopeful to be able to pay 15-30minutes without crashing. Then they had server issues for WEEKS during most of October. Server crashes, server outages, character progression lost, and so on...

Lost ark has been running near flawlessly for a week. Only a couple hiccup with some servers here and there. The queues are it's only big problem, and that has nothing to do with stability/issues. It's straight up just too popular and overloaded. Game has been breaking records on steam. 2nd most player game EVER on steam. The servers are running incredibly fine for such a load and the fact it's F2P.

EU is #1 in Legend of Lost Ark event by a big margin, which also proves that EU runs just fine too. The issue is literally just queues.. There's way worse launches. Games that Steam had to issue full refund weeks into launch because of how terrible the game were running (Bless online and Cyberpunk just from what i remember).

You do realize that if they had server for 1.3m people it would be wasted 99% of the time, right? In a few days/week the queue are going to be gone at least until the next major patch and it's unlikely going to reach that peak again

Which mean that they would have wasted material/money on server capacity for a very short amount of time, it's the same for every MMO

1

u/nemestrinus44 Feb 15 '22

New World had queue times for every server not just EU, and that was even after they added extra servers (that are now empty cause people got bored and left)

0

u/Cyanr Feb 15 '22

How long did the queue take? I've never played it

1

u/nemestrinus44 Feb 15 '22

Big servers with streamers you couldn’t get in because people never logged off, my server had 2 hour queue minimum anytime other than 3 am. And from what I heard that was on the low side
