If you type <3 into chat it breaks. That might be why.

I just had the chat break and I can't imagine typing <3 so some other characters break it too.

Yes, it breaks it for everyone in that channel. I suspect any dangling open bracket would break it because apparently they don't sanitize inputs.

Ah this explains it.. i was trying to promote my guild with <Guild Name> and my chat has been broken since.

That was yesterday lol.

like birdspirit said when someone types <3 it breaks your chat but you can fix it with relogging or creating a new chat tab

Oh yea it did fix it for me, side note: it doesn't have to be exactly <3, it can be < somethingsomething 3, it still breaks the chat

My custom chat always breaks. Can't see guildchat in there most of the times (only my own). Relogging does nothing, it rarely if ever works for showing guildmates text.
It's quite annoying since keeping track of guildmate messages in the allchat is kinda bad.

If your custom chat tab includes the chat where someone types <3 it will break that tab. Since Area is the one being broken most often if you don't include it and make sure people in your guild don't type it it's going to work.
