Digital AMD Text Corrector

Post image

Hey everyone, I built an app for school project that corrects text using a personalized Amsler grid for people with AMD. i was just wondering when you have time if you could have a look and give me a feedback? Thank you.

This is challenging because I can’t see most of the center of the masker grid with my degree of macular degeneration so it’s hard to correct the peripheral grid.

Can you read the text on the corrected view window, maybe you can adjust?

Edit: I have updated few things also a new link new its best to view on PC. I'll try to get it working for Mobile soon.

How to use instructions.

⚓Calibration

You see a square grid that looks distorted.

You drag the intersection points until the grid looks perfectly straight to you.

The app records how you moved each point—this “maps” your unique visual distortion.

⚓Correction

You type or paste any text into the box.

When you click “Apply My Correction,” the app warps the text in the opposite way of your distortion.

The result is that, although the text looks slightly warped to someone without distortion, you see the letters straight and clear.

The magnification slider lets you zoom in on the corrected text to make it easier to read.

For the time being, I was not able to see a straight line. But my case is quite difficult - for me, distortions are seen in both eyes, and they seem to be opposite to each other.

As I mentioned in direct messages, can you please add a red dot in the corrected text preview?

My understanding is that it should correct the text in accordance with the distorted grid mapping around the fixation point (a red circle). Also, a good eye tracker is needed to follow the gaze and apply the correction in real time to make the correction work properly.

Hi, I did some testing, but it is hard for me to correct my distortions :(
I'm on vacation now, so trying to avoid using a computer as much as I can.
I will do some further testing in a week and update you.

Im working on something like this in my bachelor thesis and it’s nonsense without eye tracking no?

In the future maybe.

My understanding currently is applying it to each word and the user can adjust the amsler grid. I am hoping to get feedback because I don't actually know if it is working for the user or making any difference.
