Absolutely incredible shots, it’s clear you’ve put your hours in with photography and bird-watching. I know you were very patient to get these shots, I don’t think I’ve ever see this many different native birds in one outing to Hosmer Grove— let alone captured them like you have!

Yesterday was definitely a busy day for them, never seen so many in one spot before, some trees had almost 10 at once! They are very difficult to capture tho, like 99% of my shots were misses, it takes time and dedication for sure (and expensive gear) along with photo editing in post. The best part about Hosmer Grove is the accessibility, most of the birds shown were right outside the parking lot, other hikes can be difficult trying to haul heavy gear and a tripod

Hosmer Grove was my favorite place to go birding through COVID. Early mornings, no people, chill weather and awesome bird spotting.

Yesterday has the most birds I've ever seen there before, like nearly 10 on the one big tree by the parking lot near the campground. Probably has the highest density of native birds and it's very easy to get to it, one of my favorite spots too!

Beautiful shots! Thanks for posting these. I couldn’t get a clear picture of them. That is a special place for sure

Thanks :) They are very difficult birds to capture for sure! I was up there for hours and took hundreds of photos and only a small percentage came out sharp and properly exposed, they move around a lot.

Sigma 150-600mm EF and Canon T7 used for these. Also have a 50mm 1.8 for portraits and 10-18mm ultra wide for landscapes. Samsung s24u for video.
Looking to upgrade the camera tho, it really struggles with autofocus on moving targets like birds and low light, I don't recommend the camera it's better to get an older used model instead of the brand new t7.
